@meadow36: To present an example or something.

"“Story began 500 years ago”

What were the other answer choices (other than constrast)?

I put something like “revises a statement said earlier”

Also, what was the cadences one?

Confirm heel first.

The main idea of the broccoli question was to dispel a common misconception. The author started the prompt with something like “Most Americans think…” and then refuted that.

meadow36: I put to present an example of the author’s point about fresh food

Sorry to ask again, but does anyone remember the “autobiographical” question?

Dinosaur:
experiment and extrapolations?

confirm boston1993

Cadences had to do with how her writing tries to imitate oral story telling.

Okay, good. So general topic is wrong.

And yes to experiment and extrapolations.

@ boston1993: No, that answer was to the general purpose of the passage, not the broccoli question.

One of the answers for the frozen food/broccoli one was to “____ the nature of fresh foods”.

I think the answer for the 500 years was the option with the word assertion; revise a previous assertion, because the author at first said the history started with the letter.

The techinique that the author did not use was appeal to authority.

seems we totally miss some passages…

Confirm the appeal to authority.

confirm appeal to authority

Agree with appeal to authority being the answer.

For the broccoli one, did anyone put one of their answers as the one with “malign” in it? I don’t remember the exact question or wording. I could be wrong though, I suck at the shorter passages for some reason.

And autobiagraphical was part of the question on the painter’s paintings of Ben Frankling. I believe the correct option there was eclectic association, because his paintings were always different.

And the entire painting passage was holding Peale in a good light, so weakness in painting could not have been the error.

I think heel first was right.

Appeal to authority was right.

^Good light, but not perfect. He did paint well, but his lack of consistency was a fault

confirm experiment and extrapolations
confirm appeal to authority

@billabongboy9828: It was definitely an artistic weakness. Just because the tone is admiring doesn’t mean the author can’t make negative points.
