March SAT CR Thread

im pretty sure the bad copies of Franklin’s portrait showed ecclectic _____
the beginning of the second paragraph described the painter’s behavior as extraordinary

Artistic weakness is correct. Painter was not experimental.

@delontewest thats the choice I put. I don’t think it was a sign of weakness. Its just showing that he made whatever he want and didn’t care whether he had one original or many copies of the same thing. The author also was praising him throughout the passage, doubt he would show a sign of weakness that abruptly.

I remember a weird one. In fossil passage “what did he feel about the tracks” It was weird because he said it was all old stuff but one sentence later he lauded them. anyone else remember this???

I agree with 27isdestiNYY. the first passage said something like: Let’s have cameras! Here’s why its a bad idea: …blah blah

Then the question asked if the judge would agree with the first sentence only, so therefore it’s appropriate.

The first sentence of Passage 1 said that camera lenses should be kept shut in the courtroom…

Effects of TV on Courts Double Passage
Both authors granted concessions
Both authors drew comparisons
Both authors agree media coverage of courts could be educational
Ill-advised is what Judge thinks the plan proposed by Passage 1
Stage means phase

Story of Africa Passage
Boundaries were part of the natural setting
Landed means arrived
Marked means delineate
Europeans had assumptions of what gardens were supposed to look like

Storytelling Passage
Used skills in writing learned as a child
Cadences something?

Painter passage
Admiration is tone of author
Unpretentious manner is the style of the painter
Artistic weaknesses are shown by the bad copies of B Franklin

yea i put the ecclectic one

I disagree. The first sentence was “Let’s put the lens cap back on cameras.”

Meaning the lens cap would cover the camera and thus not allow any video.

Therefore, ill-advised.

It was definitely ill-advised.

and are you sure that landed means arrived? i put dismounted because it said she arrived with a soft thud lol

What about the question about how the Judge felt towards the first line in passage 1? I put “humorous” but idk if that’s right…

delonte: I think I put unexcited for that one.

Africa one, the last sentence of the first paragraph was D? (Don’t remember exactly, but something about contradicting/revising a previous statement, because the first sentence said it started when she received the letter.)

what score can I expect from 3 wrong? Any estimates on how good the curve will be?

Princeton135, the author did not dismount off of anything…

I also got that the painter had a desire to share knowledge

Dinosaur passage
Unexcited - the authors attitude toward “secrets”

I also put sharing for knowledge and artistic weakness (I was a little unsure though) for the painter passage. I don’t remember the decorative style contrasting with his painting style quite exactly, was it the one about the styles on London that he saw briefly? If that’s the same question I believe I put that one too, but not positive.

eclectic should be correct. anybody remember anything for the last passage? i omitted like 6 questions on that one. i’m so screwed…

the fossil passage one of the answers was like unexciting/boring or something like that about the secrets

It was ill-advised.

I was stuck on that one too singingwalrus, I put unconvincing though.

i’m pretty sure the beginning of the first passage was something along the lines of “it’s time for the lens caps to go back on the cameras,” meaning that cameras should be removed.
so i put the judge would say it’s ill-advised

for the dinosaur one about the author’s opinion on the “ancient secrets,” was the answer (i can’t remember the actual word) something like unsurprised?
