March SAT CR Thread

I’m pretty sure it is arrive

It couldn’t have possibly been dismount. It said she landed with a soft thud in the rain forest. Exactly how do you dismount in to a rain forest? Unless I have Alzheimer’s, I’m pretty sure there were no horses involved in the passage.

She wasn’t getting off anything.

Ans is arrive

It was definitely arrive.

I don’t see why people are disputing some of these answers. Arrive and artistic weakness ARE correct.

Hmm other opinions on the “The truth is the story began 500 years ago” question?

vocab autobiographical???

The “500 years ago” question…

I don’t remember the exact answer choice, but I think it was in disagreement with/contradicted the first sentence of the passage.

“It began with a letter”

“Actually, it began 500 years ago”

Not the exact words, but something to that extent if I recall.

“Decorative style of England contrasted painters style” This is referring to the answer choice that contained the word “different”? Because I don’t remember the word “contrast”

What are you guys think the curve will be? Blah, I got the same number of wrong as I did on the last one, but I don’t think I’ll do as well. (-4, 750)

I put arrive, I was just momentarily thrown off b/c someone said “how do you arrive with a thud” :S

was it the entrance of the birds feet or the movement of the birds feet

^ Yes, whatever answer choice had different in it.

And the “500 years ago” is pretty much agreed on as contrasting a previous statement

What were the other possible answers for the arrive/dismount question? I can’t recall.

I think a key word to consider in the “truth began 500 years ago…” question is the word “assertion”. The answer choice said “it contradicts an <assertion> made earlier”. To me that word has a strong connotation and thus improbable in this context.</assertion>

i put the reconsidered answer

again, was the autobiography passage experimental?

what about the vocab with “exonerated”

^Autobiographical was definitely a SC answer
Also SUPERFICIAL … CURSORY

^I don’t remember exonerate. Can you remember the sentence. Did you have experimental critical reading?

@ hal9000
The choice was Stigmatized/Vindicated not Exonerated
