March SAT vs October SAT?

I got a 2040 on the January SAT (scores this morning). This was my second time taking it and I read a lot of places that you shouldn't take it more than 3 times, which means... one more chance at 2100-2200! :O I reeaaallyyyy want to break 2200.

So my question is, should I re-take in March or next fall? I can't in May or June because that's when I'm taking the SAT subject tests (since I'm going to be studying the subjects for AP tests and finals around that time anyways). March seems a little close but in October I'm worried I'm going to be too busy with college apps and my extended essay/internal assessments (IB kid here :/) I KNOW I can break 2200 because my 2040 is with absolute no prep besides the first time I took it (I know.. taking it twice without prepping either time is stupid... but I promised myself I would study over winter break before I realized how much homework we had). I just don't know WHEN I should retake it. Advice?

Take a practice test this month and see how you do. If you break 2200 on the practice test then you can take it in March or October. If you dont get your goal score on the practice test, do the official SAT study guide and take it in October.

Deadline to sign up for March is tomorrow and I have homework today… so yeah :stuck_out_tongue:
I think I’m just going to go with October so I can actually prep for a test for once.

I’d just like to point this out: while the regular registration deadline for the March SAT is indeed tomorrow, but you have until February 25 to make the late registration deadline. It costs more money, but it would give you time to take the practice test.
