Now that the State Mandated ACT is over, let’s discuss on how this one went compared to other ACT’s as well as when the scores will begin to be released.
I didn’t think it was too difficult, although this was the first ACT I’ve taken. However, compared to the released practice tests I took beforehand I found it easier. Don’t have my scores back yet though
Yeah I thought it was pretty easy compared to the December test date. @res0601 did you take yours on March 15th?
@ACTLover1999 No, I took mine March 1st.
Was this one that the school gave you? @res0601
@ACTLover1999 yes. As far as I’m aware only state and district testing was held in March. I believe schools either gave it the beginning of March or mid-March
Yes because I took mine on March 15th and I still haven’t received my score report
@ACTLover1999 yeah, I’m not certain if the ACT grades tests randomly from all test dates or goes through the March 1 tests first. Either way, it’ll probably still be a few weeks, sadly. Especially if you took the writing portion of the exam as well. Are you planning on taking any more ACTs this school year? I’m hoping that since this test was easy(ish) my score will fall where I want it to and I won’t have to retake it.
@res0601 I’ve taken it before and got a 30 last time. I’m hoping that the curve is in our favor for this test and allow my score to fall in the 31-33 range so I don’t have to take it again. The bad part is that the scores come in by mail before they come online so it’ll be even longer
@ACTLover1999 some people have already gotten their scores (those who took the March 1 test without the essay) so I’m hoping it won’t be too much longer. I need at least a 33 for me to not retake it, and since this test was relatively easy I think the curve will not be very forgiving.
@res0601 Yeah that is true. I just hope it doesn’t have that unforgiving of a curve. I took the one with the essay so mine won’t come in for a long time. This test, unlike other ACT’s, has the score report come by mail. Did the kids that you know got their scores get the report by mail?
My daughter took it in Oct and Dec and then again for the state mandated Mar 1 test. Got her results in the mail today (35!) But it is not showing up online yet.
P.s. her scores in order were 33, 34, then 35. She is done now…her 1st choice school gives a 4 year scholarship with a 35 ACT and her GPA.
Wow @slaudsmom that’s really impressive!! Congratulations!! I took my State test on the 15th so I won’t receive my scores until next month. Did your daughter take the writing test?
Got a 25
@ACTLover1999 She did not take writing; the school she wants doesn’t require it. She still plans on taking the SAT though since she likely will be a NMSF with her PSAT score.
What are your tips for improving from a 32 to 35,
Probably not the one to ask…daughter is a natural test taker. She took one full practice test before her first 33, but no other practice or study specifically for ACT. She thinks taking it 3 times helped by itself just because she got more comfortable. She was actually really sick with the last one where she got a 35 composite. Her theory is that she was too sick to sit and over think science like she usually does and she went with her gut. On this newest test she jumped from 31 to 35 in science alone. She said to go with your gut since the ACT is straight forward.
My S2 took the State ACT test on March 15th. Taking it is not mandated by our state, but it is encouraged by our school. There is very little conversation about this test (strange for this site) so I wonder how many students take this test and if a low number of testers will affect the curve. I also noticed that some March 1st test takers received their scores by mail in about 19 days so I’m hoping his scores will be here by Monday. Any thoughts on the test (or scores compared to National testing dates) and when scores arrive?
