Should I enroll in the marching band and varsity band course? Is there any reason not to if I'll be in marching band anyway? How does it work (ie: grades, # of credits)?

enroll. it’s a free 2-unit A, and the only reason not to is if you have a class conflict or something. but even minor class conflicts are okay (like 20 minutes missed once a week).

Yes!! Join the marching band, you will be glad you did. They get primo seats at all of the football games, free lunches at games, free trips to Bay area games and Bowl games, and a 2-unit A to boost your GPA!

Once you are in the marching band you are eligible for Varsity band, which plays at Basketball games.

You need to hurry, though, auditions or audition tapes are required to become a member. In-person auditions for the Band began in May. Auditions will continue throughout the summer until each section is filled, so it is to your advantage to audition at your earliest convenience, or send in your tape as soon as possible.

Thanks for the encouragement, Band Mom - I’ve already been admitted (and I’m very excited to participate), I just had to decide whether or not to sign up for the official class for a grade and credit.
