Alright, call me a geek, but I've wanted to be in a big college marching band almost all my life. I play the trumpet at a high school without a real marching program so I don't know a lot about it. I was wondering if anyone had any information about band camp/audition process/marching advice/what band is like/ways I could practice over the summer. Thanks!

I was interested myself before I came to Purdue so I know how you feel right now since my high school program wasn’t that great either. According to a friend of mine, the band will pretty much be your “family” at Purdue since you will be together for a good amount of time. Specifically your section will be very close so for you the trumpets/brass. The audition music is posted online but you just need the user/pw from the Band Department so you could just practice that.

I’ve heard drumline is significantly more intense than the other sections.
