I'm thinking of trying out this summer. Do any of you guys know of friends, family, etc. that have done this in years past? If so, how much time does it consume and stuff?

My only advice to you is that you go back in time and become a drum major or first chair. This is like the best marching band in the country and I've heard it is difficult to get in.

My wife was a Chief. She had a lot of fun and got to travel with the team generally.

In the 1970s the Chiefs required 2 hours per day practice and probably all day Saturday. On travel events you may be gone for up to 4 days. Note that this is for Fall semester in general.

Here's a webpage with more information: http://www.marchingchiefs.fsu.edu/

I was a Chief 69-72 so I can vouch for the above info. Although some things have probably changed in the last 35-38 years! How time flies!
