I am dying of jealousy for myself and my kid, though he won’t have worked the way you two are describing. (I will I will if I could get to go, me me me !!!)
the juries handpick kids very carefully matching with instructors. there are LOTS of hidden thoughts in it, that’s why program is so selective and so tiny.
please remember all the good things and come back to help MWS when you become bigshot, maybe start with donating some of your birthday money?

I’d definitely like to help out in some way…some of the counselors at my session were former Sharpe students, so that’s one option. I also asked them if it would be possible for me to work for the foundation directly; as it turns out, it’s a wonderfully tiny organization that barely has any room, hahaha. There’s always donations, which I’d certainly be up for.

there is still hope in this world Mr. Frodo.
these kids are so f***ing great !!!

I am sitting here reorganizing and add those special spices to my latest resume. I am including the MWSAF Summer Program I spent in the summer of 1994. Yep I’m 33 now and I still remember the animo I got speed drawing with Luis Jim

drop drip (drool) pant pant ( tongue) thump thump wag wag (tail)
amazing… 1994 eh?

Hi,

Does anyone know when the 2011 acceptances are announced? The application deadline was the first week in April. I’ve searched but can’t find information about when 2011 applicants are accepted. Does anyone know?

Thanks

I have here two year old rejection letter, dated May 8th.
suppose it won’t change much, timeline is always been same.
gawk!!
you guys are hearing from pretty soon!!
good luck!!!

PS
don’t bug them nice ladies in Colorado yet,OK? stay put and wait for the mail to come.

Sorry to reply to an old topic but, I’d like to know what exactly they’re looking for when they look at the applicants’ works. Are they looking to the ability to capture details from still life? Their level of art? Just overall potential?

A guy from Cooper told me I should apply next year but I’m still confused over the whole thing. There’s not a lot of information about the whole program…

If anyone could reply or post their works that they sent as an application (if that’s possible) it’ll be nice. Thanks!

Juries change every year but far as I know what they look is consistent.
Solid skill and ability to complete (work really hard) till you are done.
there are student’s works still on this thread that are active.
you can sort of tell what I mean.
If your style is not a good match, maybe you won’t be happy there.
I don’t think it is a good idea to adjust your work so to get in.
same as Cooper: they choose you, if you are IT.
Good luck and let us know.
I said in somewhere, but check you HS calender and each seminar’s instructors’works.

Wow, thanks a lot! So work hard to complete the work and have solid skill, huh? I’ve looked at my school’s calender. It messes up my finals schedule but I’m more then willing to make the necessarily arrangements.

Oh and I don’t mean to bother you again but, do you know where to find works from the instructors? I’ve never been the best with anything related to electronics and its hard to navigate their website…

It seems not out yet.
when the app is ready in Jan, usually there will be the list of instructors on each seminar.
If there is no direct link to artworks, you can google them and see it.
If it is not changed, you are able to list choices of seminars by your preference.
If you are from NY state, school calender does not do you favor: better not have to take regents exam, let alone finals.
Then again, first seminar block could be the most coveted one for kids from states (think Florida elite magnet HSs) who are already out of school and also eying on other prestigious summer programs:MICA Italy, RISD, SMFA, Cooper plus some cases even RSI and TASP (non art)
I don’t have any proof but just my gut feeling, assuming the first seminar would be easier-in could be wrong. You might risk GPA (by skipping finals) and still won’t get in.
not to scare you or anything, just to share my sentiment.
NY calender su*cks.
