Ive been doing a lot of research and I am weighing a couple options. I will probably do general Bio undergrad but I recently found out that one of the schools near me, UNC Wilmington, offers a very good Marine Biology program. I'm confident I can get the grades required for admission but I want to know if I would be better of doing another variation of Biology (job prospects wise) or if this is a fairly good major for the sciences? any replies appreciated.

Bump

I think prospects are dim. Try doing some searches on this forum. There is a poster that knows something about it marine bio but I can’t remember the name. Hopefully a search will turn up some prior conversations.

I’m considering marine biology as a field of work as well. However, I strongly believe I need knowledge of the basics. I plan to major in biology and/or environmental science at a school where marine biology classes, etc, are offered, so I can be exposed to marine science (just not major in it). In order to get the best job prospects, especially in research, you need a masters or doctorate. My advice to you is to build a foundation first, and then build upon that with marine biology in graduate school.
