I was selected in the Early Board For the Marine NROTC national 4 year scholarship at “my top school” (which was Duke). I understand I still need to get into Duke, but how much will this help me in admissions? Academically I am qualified but I am definitely on the low end of the most recently admitted class.
Thanks!
Congrats, I was just selected for an Army Rotc 4-year to Duke as well!! Have you been on to serviceacademyforums.com? If not its extremely helpful for questions regarding ROTC. From what I’ve read, the more competitive the school, the less impact they have on admissions. My advice would be to start emailing or calling the person in charge of your branch’s ROTC on campus and telling them your intent to attend Duke. For me, I used ED to increase my odds. If you’re applying RD, I would start establishing a good relationship with the head of NROTC at Duke so that they may put in a good word for you and try to have a say in admissions! I’m not 100% sure, but like I said, service academy forums could help you a lot more. Good luck!
edit: Oh and also I’ve heard that they won’t award you a scholarship to schools that they don’t feel you’d be capable of getting in.
