Does anyone have experience with the Marist Florence Italy 4-year bachelor program? My daughter is very interested in Art Conservation and this has really piqued her interest as that is a rare major at US universities, but I really can’t find any info on the program. Thanks!
My daughter is going into her last semester of the 4-year program in Florence. She initially chose Marist because of the first year program they have but she pretty much immediately decided she wanted to stay and transferred to the 4-year program. She was interested in the art conservation program when she started, but it was too chemistry intensive for her liking. She ended up with a double major in digital media and studio art with a concentration in graphic design and a minor in art history. She definitely got my money’s worth! The experience has been transformative for her. She’s traveled, she’s learned to be independent in a foreign country—it’s been a truly amazing experience. The exposure to the art, the attention from professors (most of her classes have been 10 students or fewer, she’s had several where she was the only or one of two students), and the support of the Marist/LdM academic community have been stellar, particularly when you consider what everyone was going through with covid.
I don’t know too much about the art conservation program, but I would think that, with Florence as the location, the resources and expertise would be pretty solid and set a graduate up for some terrific opportunities.
Thank you so much for that info! That is impressive that she was able to make it work even through COVID!
