keep the faith , we may opt out so there are spots open
@Luke123456 thank you so much . I love Marist so I signed up to be on the waitlist yesterday
good luck ,i would sent letter of interest to your local recruiter
use something like this for example
Please accept this brief update as a sincere letter of continued interest for the Class of 2023. I am fully committed to attending if granted the honor of an admission.
Thank you very much for placing on the waitlist of xxx.
Recently I achieved x…Which should show you how I am continuing to try and live my best life. And will do so during my time on campus. I will be a good friend and a good student and a good servant to others.
Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you in the coming weeks.
@Luke123456 Thank you so much for the advice . I sent in a letter of interest with my waitlist form in the mail. I will continue sending emails and updates to show my interest
@erlync - my son is leaning towards another school so he will likely give up his spot.
99% positive my son will give up his spot at Marist. Looks like it’s not in his cards. That will be good news for the waitlist…! Hope someone here can benefit, I’m sure he’s not the only one.
@Loreli173 good luck to him wherever he goes. Even though I got waitlisted from Marist and it’s my dream school I’m unsure that I’ll get good financial aid package
@erlync … we were not excited about the package they offered. Loved the school when we visited!
My daughter appealed her merit award by emailing her admissions counselor and financial aid office. Included an offer from another school. Heard back today they increased her merit from $10k to $15k to match the other school. Worth a try if you haven’t already!
@meyerzone great for your daughter. she just wrote a letter? didn’t have to fill out a form?
@Loreli173 sorry to hear. can I ask why he will not attend Marist? my daughter was accepted… I am not sure if she will attend. we love the campus, the study body, the accepted students day was very welcoming. but she hasn’t said YES or NO… there are lots of but’s… just curious on others thoughts & reasons of those that are not 100%committed to going yet. we are still visiting schools for the accepted students day. hopefully, we will see the SIGN to which one she should choose. TIA
@bahamabreeze email to her home state admission’s officer and cc financial aid. She also went to the pre-college program last summer, which I think helped a lot from a showing interest perspective. Our friends went to admissions on student acceptance day and were able to negotiate an additional $2K, by telling them they were ready to put down a deposit if they would offer more. Admissions first offered $1k and they didn’t accept. The woman they met with then went to a higher up and got them approved for $2k and they put down their deposit.
Since I was waitlisted for Marist, I emailed one of the admissions counselors to show my interest but they haven’t responded for 2 whole days and I don’t know what to do!
@bahamabreeze It is a fantastic school, we loved it all around, plus we were all very impressed with the acceptance letter! It is just not the best fit for my kid, and still too much money (but we didn’t even try to appeal for more $). He has better connection with 2 other schools. He hated saying “no” to them, but it was a process of elimination.
Hey everyone, update: I was able to be in touch with my admissions counselor about the waitlist and he recognizes my interest in Marist. All I have to do now is wait and hope for the best that I get picked these next couple of days.
@Loreli173 we are in the same situation. We hate saying no. I am impressed with the alumni connection…and nyc companies co
decided to pass on Marist hopefully you get my spot good luck
@Luke123456 good luck wherever you go. I committed to another school but am still waiting on Marist. My admissions counselor said they didn’t get any word about the waitlist yet so I’m hoping they offer me a spot soon.
I think they will take people from the waitlist. Right now, they are calling people who haven’t committed yet, offering them more money to commit. Sounds like they haven’t hit their numbers. Good luck all. We committed to TCNJ late last night.
