Marist Social Life

What is the social atmosphere like at Marist? How are the students? Parties? Campus activities? Area? Food? Greek Life?

The social atmosphere is super friendly and active. There are a lot of things to do both on campus and off campus.

Students: I’m not going to say everyone is amazing, because that’s just not true, but most students are welcoming and friendly. I would recommend visiting - because one thing that stands out to everyone is that everyone hold doors for each other. It seems like a little thing, but it really stands out.

Parties: I mean, it’s college, so of course there are parties. There are local bars that students go to if their identification claims they’re 21… and of course there are houses off campus that host parties as well. You’ll never have a dull moment here if that’s what you’re looking for.

Campus Activities: We have over 85 clubs on campus, from sports clubs to awareness and more social clubs. If you can’t find something you’re interested in (which I’m sure you will) you can get a group of friends together and petition to start a club! There are club and activity fairs each semester where you can walk around and sign up for more information.

Area: The Hudson Valley is beautiful. There are so many historic sites and places to hike nearby. There’s a mall decently close as well, if that’s more your speed. There’s also always so much going on on campus!

Food: I personally love the food on campus. The dining hall is new and very highly rated. There are also smaller cafes to eat at around campus. All the food in the dining hall is sourced from local areas so it’s always fresh! Not many campuses can say that. There are so many choices as well - sushi, salad bar, omelet station, grill, pasta station, deli, pizza, etc. If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, they can accommodate that as well.

Greek Life: We have a few sororities and fraternities on campus. They’re very active and definitely there if you’re interested in that. But, if you’re not, there are plenty of other things to be involved in and they certainly don’t dominate the social life here.

I absolutely love Marist and it’s the best decision I ever made!
