What do YOU think is the most marketable second language I can learn for engineering. Obviously English is the #1 but how about #2? Does it vary with each engineering discipline? I am sure that multi-lingual Petroleum engineers are sought after all over the world but which language would most generally broaden my horizon? I know little spanish and think it will be not hard to pick up at all because there is so much hispanic media/TV and speakers in the US. Arabic would be no doubt the hardest because there is no arabic media and there are many dialects. Perhaps there is a generic colloquial one that is taught in universities. German or French would seem to be the most marketable in Europe with French being largely spoken in Africa as well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
