marketing

i was looking in another forum and there some people who said that if u don't live in nyc or la and have very good grades the only job u will get out of marketing is sales... i took a course in marketing and i really liked it i am thinking of switching but i don't want to do sales i hate selling does anyone here have a degree in marketing and has a job other than sales

Not true. Most marketing majors (reguardless of location or school) will start out in sales but will able to do other aspects of marketing (marketing strategy) after a few years or after obtaining an MBA. If you go to a top school, you may have more opportunities available, and if you go to not such a great school which isn't really known for business you may have trouble finding a job. However, I would say to stick with it!

so undergraduate school is important for Jobs/ Grad School? cus I'm thinking about a college which isnt known for business but sci.

Well, no. If you are majoring in business at a school not really known for business that may not be that good because your opportunites after graduating will be limited. However, if you do well you can still get into a great MBA program and your undergrad will not matter.
If you are majoring in science or something outside of business than it doesn't matter about the business program there. It's actually better for MBA admissions to major outside of business. You just won't necessarily be having a business job upon graduation.

Undergrad school means very little when applying for an MBA.

BTW, you can major in marketing anywhere in the US and get a job outside of sales. You think LA and NYC are the only places in the country with marketing departments?
