Markets and Society - Anyone know of it?

<p>Hi All-</p>

<p>Congratulations to everyone who have gotten in do far. Unfortunately, I didn't get into the Smith's College of Business for my freshman year. </p>

<p>However, Maryland still offered me an acceptance into the college itself, which im assuming means I was accepted into the Letters of arts and sciences with an undecided major. I got this congratulations the same time as everyone else did.</p>

<p>However, yesturday I received an envelope from the Letters of Arts and Sciences informing me that I was picked to become a part of "Markets and Society", a division that focuses on a marketing and business related major. They also sent me a pamphlet, and a self addressed stamped envelope that I send to tell them I'd like to join. </p>

<p>Should I consider this a good thing to take part in? I was 99% sure I wasn't going to get into Maryland itself, but was surprised to get an acceptance to the school itself. My goal was to attend the school and apply to the business school after my freshman/sophomore year.</p>

<p>If anyone could give me some input on this program, it'd be greatly appreciated. Is it actually selective or is it made to seem like it is something worth looking at? <p>yeah i got into markets and society too. im not sure if im going to do it or not, i dont really know anything about it</p>

<p>i am not sure if i should accept it, let me know if you find anything about it.
I am going to the open house tomorrow to see if I can get some info. </p>

<p>btw......do u guys think it's an invitational program like the scholars or honors. I mean have you gotten into scholars as well as the markets and society cuz i think the markets and society is only for business majors. </p>

<p>I don't know specifics... I do know that my UMd overnight host was in Markets & Society to begin with, is now in honors, and is majoring in Advertising as part of the business school. Sorry if that confused you more... I don't remember perfectly, but I think that is it...</p>

<p>erm... you can be in honors with any major...</p>

<p>I know for a fact that Markets & Society is meant to be a transition into the business school.</p>

<p>I would email someone in Markets & Society or call the business school office to check. I'm really not sure.</p>
