I am Asian Indian by origin (I am an American citizen by birth). Should I mark my race on my college app. I am applying to some combined 7 year BS/MD programs and I'm not really sure whether knowing that I am Indian will help my chances considering the multitudes of Asians who apply to these programs.

Marking Asian will not help your chances at all, and might even hurt your chances. But if your last name is obvious, it won't matter. But if your last name is not obviously asian, don't mark it, cause your chances will be better if they assume your white, rather than asian.

Well put, I agree.

if you are looking to increase your chances, put down black or hispanic

...until you have an interview, in which case you're screwed for lying on your app. :)

Just wear a wig to whatever race you put down on the application. Haven't you ever seen the SNL sketch when Eddie Murphy dressed up as a white man?

lol, i actually considered doing that but i guess warblersrule86 is right, I can't get away with the interview

Is it advantageous to say you're Vietnamese, even though that's Asian?

This issue has been beaten to death, resurrected and beaten to death again fifty times over. How much common sense do you need to realise what race you are?

I know a case where someone answered the question Race? with "human".
