Marks needed to attend McGill University?

I can't find on their website or anywhere else, what my average should be to be considered for acceptance at McGill (as an Ontario high school student). In their Management program (Business/Commerce pretty much), and also their Economics program. If anybody knows where this info is, or knows already from past experience, that'd be great to know. Thanks.

Aim for high 80's if you're from Ontario.

yeah the year i applied you needed to have at least an 87% average. Didn't take into consideration I went to a competitve private highschool and took mostly IB classes.

how about the scholarships? Say if I have excellent ECs and community service and excellent personal statements/essays with great recs? Will I be able to qualify for scholarships? My average is usually around 88-90%, will that hurt my chances? by the way im from bc.

I'm guessing the Business/Management program is harder to get into than the Economics one, which is I think a part of the Arts faculty like most other universities. Can I only apply for one program, or can I apply to business, but say I don't have the marks for that, also be applying for economics and maybe have the marks to be accepted into that?

just curious, is there set GPA average/requirement for its faculty of arts/political science?

That is what I'm trying to figure out. It doesn't say on their website, but I was hoping someone on here might know.

i never knew Mcgill has such a meager web system. It's a real pain in the ass finding something useful on their site.

There is no set GPA requirement, but they expect you to be in the top 20% of your class. Based on personal experience with admitted friends, you should be fine if your GPA is around a 3.7 and you have decent SAT's and strong extra curriculars. McGill is probably comparable to the better state schools in terms of admissions--ie University of Michigan, University of Wisconsin, etc.

I don't think McGill -along with many Canadian schools- looks at EC's very much. According to the 2005 Macleans review, the average first round grade are: arts-89%, science-90%, commerce-90%, engineering- 90%.

I would aim for the mid 90's just to be safe.

Agreed, McGill is one of the best schools in Canada, and has a great reputation everywhere. Of course, this makes applying that much harder. Low to Mid 90s is needed for pretty much any program.

McGill does not care about ECs. A 90% or above is a good aim, but an 85% might do it.

Does anyone know when McGill is going to do an orientation session in Toronto?

If you check this link, the dates for all their recruitment drives are listed.
