Hello everyone,
This is my first time posting so bear with me. Currently I am starting my second year of community college, but I am hoping to transfer out early (cant stand living in my home town/state any longer). I have applied to the English programs at three schools.
1. University of Minnesota
2. Marquette University
3. Drake University
A little about myself, I am a little older than the average student (25) so I have some life experience and take my education VERY seriously. Currently, my transfer GPA is 3.74 otherwise it is 3.6. I am a part of my CCs honors program but not phi theta kappa. I have written some pieces for my CCs newspaper, but dont regularly contribute.
I have already been accepted to Drake with an $11,000 merit scholarship, but havent seen the rest of the package yet. My essay to Marquette is very strong, but Im still not confident that I will be accepted. I really like their writing intensive English major. U of M is a total toss up for me. Essay was ok but not phenomenal, and I love the school and city.
Any words of wisdom or insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I’ve researched Marquette and UM fairly thoroughly…and your GPA is definitely in their range. Your essays should get you there. Good luck!

However, I researched for first year students.

Thanks SaraCo! I’m sure the standards for transfer students won’t be to different from incoming freshman.
