I was recently put on the Marquette University wait list for the college of Arts and Sciences and I was wondering what my chances are of getting accepted. My intended major is history.

Wow, I've heard of a lot of kids waitlisted this year. I wish I could help you but I don't really know historically how many kids get off the wait list. I would think your chances are good -- their yields are average, nothing special -- but of course I don't really know the particulars of your case. Why don't you call admissions and ask how many on the list, how many taken off last year, etc?
My daughter will most probably be attending, by the way -- health sciences.

Chances of getting off a wait list are usually very slim.

I contacted the admissions office the other day and they told me that they did not know the exact number of students on the wait list but they guessed that it would be around 1000. I looked at the number of people that they took off the wait list last year and it was around 75. I sent them another letter recommendation from a successful businessman from the Chicago area and my first semester grades. I also sent them a letter from my Doctor because I was recently diagnosed with ADD and my grades have significantly improved since then.
