If anyone has an opinion or experience with either of these schools, I would appreciate your feedback. I have been accepted to both and will major in biology/premed track. SLU has a medical school, so that is a plus, but I would be open to attending medical school anywhere. Both are similar and I would be happy either place. Any thoughts? Thanks!

You’re talking about Marquette University in Milwaukee, right?
If so then I would recommend Marquette. My sister went there and a lot of students pursue medicine and they have excellent biology/chemistry programs. Not to mention Milwaukee is probably my favorite city in America! The campus is kind of old, but I love the atmosphere and if you are religious it is nice :D

I have heard great things about the science program as well as the gross anatomy class that is available for undergraduates. And yes, I am Catholic, so a Jesuit University is a great fit. Anyone have an opinion on St. Louis?

You might try sending a PM to the poster silverlady. She sometimes weighs in on posts about SLU, as her daughter is a recent graduate.

Marquette. Best jerseys in all of sports.

Son is hoping to attend Marquette in Fall 2010 for biomedical engineering. Visited last summer and loved it. Very supportive faculty. Just recently learned that Medical College of Wisconsin used to be Marquette’s medical school. Supposed to be very close by the campus. Probably a good feeder or at least good networking opportunities there.

Also seems to be a lot of Chicago connections with Milwaukee, which is another attraction for son, and there is a strong medical community in Chicago.

Hey I love the jerseys too. Anyone have experience with pre med and/or science at MU or SLU?

D2 got accepted to both. Guaranteed Med School acceptance coupled with a beautiful campus, and somewhat better weather pushes it in SLU’s favor.

Congratulations to your daughter PeteOsix! I did not get accepted into the Medical Scholars program at SLU, but have been in contact with the Pre Professional Health Studies office and they have been very helpful. I am impressed at how much support there is for students going through the medical school application process at SLU. Thanks for your post.

Anyone pre med at Marquette?

My son is looking at both these schools as well. Have you visited both campuses and what were your impressions?

One interesting program that Marquette offers is an undergraduate course in gross anatomy, apparently, there are only a few schools that have this class as part of the undergraduate program. Just something to consider.

The Biomedical Science program at MU is very interesting. I am comparing it with Investigative Medical Science at SLU. TOO many good choices!
