I've read Lafayette's webpage about the Marquis Fellowship, but I've yet to locate any CC info on the fellowship. There's lots on the Marquis Scholarship, but can anyone speak to the qualifications of the Marquis Fellowship winners? Is it a new kind of merit?

The fellowship is new. I am not sure if any have been awarded yet or if this is the first year for the selection process.

thanks, lotsofquests. After a lot more searching and reading Taylor’s Lafayette College Questions and Answers Part I, I figured out that was probably the case. I’ll call admissions Tuesday and post what I find. Enjoy your Labor Day.

I did not get hold of Lafayette admissions (an email response ignored the question I asked), but the webpage for Lafayette merit has been expanded to include more info on the Marquis Fellowship and on its relp to the Scholarship.

[Lafayette Scholarships · Tuition & Aid · Lafayette College](http://finaid.lafayette.edu/financing-your-education/types-of-financial-aid/scholarships/)

Basically, it says that 100 applicants are invited to campus for a barbecue and 20 of those are chosen for the Fellowship. The remainder become top candidates for the Scholarship. Hope this helps.

Can internationals be considered for the fellowship?

Yes, all applicants are considered for both the Marquis Fellowship and the Marquis Scholarship, including international applicants.

Taylor

Are ED applicants considered for merit scholarships? International student here, too.

Yes, ED applicants are considered for the Marquis Scholarship and Marquis Fellowship as well :)

Taylor

if an applicant is accepted ED, will their acceptance letter have the Marquis Scholarship information in it if they have been awarded the scholarship or is it a separate communication?

The Marquis Scholars are notified along with their acceptance.

Yes the letter will state if you are qualified for scholarship.
I got the Marquis Scholars. I think Marquis Fellowship’ll have to wait until mid March.

Did anyone who applied RD hear about Marquis Scholarship or Fellowship?

I applied RD and was notified today that I’m a finalist for the fellowship. Does this increase my chances of admission?

@sharker - Congratulations! I would assume that this indicates your chances for admission are very good, especially if you attend the interview day and don’t do anything terribly embarrassing there! My son received the same notification today: the letter said that roughly 120 applicants were invited as finalists, and that 25 fellowships will be offered. We are very excited and grateful that he is being considered for the fellowship!

Is the notification email or mail? Thank!

Those that received a letter- did you visit & interview? When did you apply RD?

The notification is through priority mail.

I applied early January. Personally, I visited and interviewed. I don’t think that’s required. But it does help you get a feel for the college.

For those who received letters yesterday, do you live near the college? We have visited 2 x, had an interview, and my D sent in her application and essays by the early deadline with an RD application. I am confused by those who applied RD and claim they applied in January and already found out. I thought applications needed to be submitted earlier in order to be considered for the Marquis?

Nope. I live in the Southeast. I was sent an email around the first week of January that said if you wanted to be considered for scholarships, submit your application ASAP because the scholarship committee is currently going through applications. So I turned mine in a day or two after and, luckily, I made it in time to be considered.

Thank you. She is very excited she received her email notification for selection of this first thing this morning! Best wishes to all!
