Marshall College admits here! yay :] good job to everyone! sorry to those rejected :/
but I guess I just wanted to make a Marshall thread, since a couple others have their own...haha. So say anything/ask anything you want on this thread?
I've heard Marshall has the best ocean terrace view, best food, and decent dorms...

i ended up in marshall (dont know what my preferences were...), so i might as well learn about it! :)

on a side note, this is my 2nd "marshall"-named acceptance (USC marshall school of business). just thought it was funny

hahaha you and Marshall are meant to be! ;P I actually don't know that much about the UCSD schools either. Hoping to find out some info here from other students that I might not find in articles from Google and such..

I got Marshall.. and I don't think I had any idea which was the best when I applied.. I didn't know about CC, so I was kind of lost.

I hear Muir is "best".. but one of my old friends is in Marshall as well.. and she loves it.. so I'm pretty sure all the campus's are nice :)

Getting into SD gives me hope :)

Marshall here. I got in for Computer Engineer. I shall change it if I attend SD.

I got into Thurgood Marshall for Psychology! :)

i think muir and marshall are basically equal - i had a hard time deciding but i went with muir. i consider them the 2 best colleges!

Yes! In terms of GE req's they are apparently the "easiest"
And I've been told by numerous people that Marshall dorms have the best ocean terrace view, and the best dining hall food (and it's open until 1am?) haha:D

I'm a 2nd year Human Bio major at Marshall College

GE's in Marshall are pretty easy to accomplish... The only class that everyone complains about here is DOC because of all of the reading and writing you have to do for it.

The dorms are decent. Suites are composed of 2 triple and 4 single rooms. I had a triple... it was quite small haha because the room was initially a double... but the apartments make up for it. Much more spacious =)
Some people in our apartment building are freshmen too so i'm guessing some of u will be lucky to live here your first year also.

OVT... the food is good... but if u have it everyday you're going to hate it... I have a love/hate relationship with this place because the convenience is so nice but at the same time the variety of food is very limited.

do transfer students (junior) have to take DOC? I completed IGETC and so does that fulfill all ge requirements

what is the DOC class/program?
and is it required by all freshman?
i got into marshall too

I was accepted into Thurgood into the Bioengineering (Biotech) program

But in all sincerity I do not know what my first choice college was...maybe it was this one
:)

In my DOC section I had 2 transfer students from other UCs... so yes I'm pretty sure you have to take DOC if you're a transfer.

I think everyone in Marshall has to take DOC which is a 3 quarter long class...It's a college requirement UNLESS you transferred in and finished IGETC...

Economics at Marshall!
& what anotherasian1234 said, second "Marshall" college, USC being the first.

This was my top choice basically cause it had a better economics program than the others? I have no clue, I asked my friend who goes there to list out the top colleges, and voila! My choices!

I got into Marshall as well...I randomly listed my preference for the six colleges...hopefully this one is good!

i got into marshall for history! but i dont know that much about it. im def considering going here but im still waiting on cal and some private colleges...

yeh i got into Marshall
human bio major
found myself a company here
i randomly selected the colleges…haha
MEET U GUYS at the admit day- if u guys r gonna b thr

i love love love marshall because:
- convenient location, almost central, not located in the boonies, close to peterson hall (soo many lectures here!), close to rimac, close to parking structures

OVT dining hall, delicious, greasy burritos…open the latest of all dining halls, decent food

dorms are nice, i got a single, so it was GREAT! the suites are set up so that the doors of each suite are face to face with the suite across the hall. kind of nice that the nearest company is not a floor up or down. apts are nice and spacious too! oh, and no see-through curtains/awkward set-up in the showers hahah

GEs are easy and diverse…DOC is NOTTTT hard, it’s actually kind of interesting. this is coming from a biology major — the papers are NOT hard, nor is the grading. you have 2 5pg papers (at least when i took it…), which in my opinion, is easier to do than 1 10pg paper. i think you have to turn in 1-2 page papers here and there, but they’re so simple. really, who can’t write a paper that short, double-spaced? class is mandatory, so you can’t skip…but if you can stay awake in lecture and listen, they basically give you a summary of the readings. i barely read anything in DOC, wikipediaed/googled the court cases, listened in lecture + section, and did my papers the night before — I managed a B+. I regret not spending more time on those papers… haha bottom line, go to class and take notes.

oh, and if you want to know if you still have to take it or not, check assist.org…email the academic advisor if you want to be absolutely sure.
