Marshall School of Business

When I visited USC, I was not too impressed by this school. This may be because I came when few students were present. What do you think of Marshall??

marshall sucks, there is nothing good about marshall. i hate the fact that i attribute most of my personal growth and success to the business school, i especially hate the fact that i got multiple job offers before graduating, i hate our tremendously powerful and influential alumni network, i hate the fact that i got my current job through a back-door connection through the alumni netwrok, i hate the proffs. who always try to help you get better grades and really care about you, i hate our career center that bends over backward in order to get the best of the best business firms to recruit here, i hate the fact that marshall is the best undergrad b school in the southwestern united states, and second best u grad b school on the west coast, i hate when i am at a bar and i am talkng to a girl and i mention that i went to USC and she's like "oOoooOOooO you must be really rich, please sleep with me" i really hate that, i hate the fact that i can afford to live in newport beach at 23 years old with my dead end job

now excuse me, i need cash in my christmas bonus check

Hee Hee. Love this post!

Wow... no need to get defensive, though I did enjoy your humor

MrTrojanMan, Around what gpa are employers looking for, or would you say gets you those really good jobs?

^^^ yeah i wanna ask the same question......what GPA would give you a decent 50.000$ plus salary? Also, are there any good recriters from the East Coast or the mid-west? Do you know any marshall Trojans who have moved to the east coast with decent jobs?

I am a freshman this year at USC and I had the exact same questions you guys had last year when deciding between schools. I went and visited last spring on a Friday afternoon and the business school was empty. I realized though you can't judge a school on the amount of kids running around the halls of a building.

Obviously, I'm nowhere near graduating and yet to have reap the rewards like MrTrojanMan has, but from my observations and talking to older students within the school i have realized if you can get a 3.7+ while staying active with clubs and the community any job should be available to you. From there, however, it is up to you the job applicant to be well-knowledged in the area and be prepared for the interview

As to the question about who hires...everyone hires from USC from Goldman Sachs to Bain Consulting. And yes they hire for all different regions.

A cool story too about hiring that goes along with the subject is GE's (2nd largest organziation in the world) CEO came to visit USC this month and spoke with all 40 students (Business and Engineering) who they had offer jobs to and all 40 accepted after the talk. He felt USC had a great business program and pledged to have his company become more involved with our university in the future.

^ i hate it when that happens!!! those girls are so annoying.

i hear the marshall professors are very cold and racist? can u clear that up for me please?

Mustang are these Marshall people mostly from like Finance or does it include people in Levanthal School of Accounting?

hahaha great post by MrTrojanMan

Can you elaborate more on the alumni network? I know it's strong, but what kind of work does it get you into? I'm from an East Coast family where everyone does finance and works on Wall Street, but obviously this would change if I went to schools and worked out West. Which is what I want to do.

Thanks dude
