I appealed to USC and I got accepted for Spring 2013 for Econ major.
(Stupid me, I didn't double check to put Business Administration as my first choice... and I ended up putting Econ as my first -_- so I'm going to see if I can change my major to business admin. I know it may be hard because it's Marshall, but I hope it works!)

I have already enrolled in IU Kelley, which is ranked 16th in the nation at this moment.
I got direct admit to Kelley, which is somewhat prestigious at IU...
However, after getting my decision reversed at USC (my first choice), I am now debating where to go.

I live in CA, (around 30 minutes from USC) which makes it very convenient for me to go to USC.
However, IU has a better business school and I dont even know if I am going to get into Marshall.

I'm still waiting for my financial aid from USC.
But hopefully they give me a lot because Pepperdine gave me A LOT...
(I'm thinking since USC is private too, they'll give me a lot too? haha)

anyways, please help me make a decision!!

wait… what do you mean IU Kelley ‘has a better business school’? I think you are using the Businessweek rankings, but that is a complete trash ranking that uses student surveys to rank and where WHARTON is ranked below schools like Notre Dame and UVA. According to the US News rankings, Marshall is ranked 9th in the nation along with Cornell. IU was in the top 10 last year but not anymore. In fact, what are you going to do learning business in the middle of Indiana, when you can learn business at the core of Los Angeles? There are so much more internship/entrepreneurship opportunities available here. Also, you made it to a Top 25 school, why would you go to IU… I’m a current SC student and I made Kelley (which was my safety school) with a full scholarship and they even sent me a scarf…

Just go to USC, and try to get a 3.5+ during your freshman year and apply for Marshall. I have a lot of friends who go to IU Kelley and they are extremely envious of the opportunities and the value of the education I get from Marshall.

I know someone that got into Kelley this year with a 3.0 GPA. I don’t think this would happen at USC!! I am no expert but it’s a NO BRAINER…USC. My daughter just finished her first year at Marshall. We are very impressed!

Discussion is right to question the objective credibility of the businessweek rankings. They use a somewhat different set of ranking methodologies than that of US News, which most people seem to trust the most. Personally, I feel that a ranking where Wharton ranks below McIntire, Dyson and Mendoza (with Sloan even below that) is ridiculous. Come to USC, its closer, the network is better, and its definitely a top 10 undergrad business program.

At some point I compared these two business schools as well and the businessweek rankings are indeed flawed so I wouldn’t go by them when deciding which school to apply to. I’d say only consider Kelley if for some reason you really want to live/work in Indiana or the midwest after. USC has a much better program and has superior recruiting for the west coast and the street if you are aiming for finance.
