<p>I really need help with the UMD essay...this stuff is so complicated and difficult. </p>
<p>Im trying to do the "what is ur something essay"</p>
<p>but i dont even know what theyre looking for! what did henry david thoreau even mean when he said that? how am i supposed to knwo what my something is ...im just 17. </p>
<p>should i talk about my leadership and be like my something is to utilize my leadership skills to help benefit as most poeple as possible and influence positivly and make good changes with my postiions?</p>

<p>For the particular question to which you are referring, I think they are looking for what a description of what you feel most comfortable doing. For example, if you like sports maybe you could write about why you like them.</p>
<p>If you know in what you want to major, you could write about why you are thinking about that major above all other majors.</p>
<p>I think talking about leadership positions would be very good. What I think I would do is focus on one or two of the positions though, just to emphasize the “not doing everything” aspect.</p>

<p>“Leadership” is not too cliche- the TYPE of leadership you choose to talk about may be, but I think as long as you find a unique spin on what you have to say it will be fine.</p>
