Are there any small/ LACs in Maryland that have favorite OFF-campus hangouts for students? Just curious about whether various college towns are friendly to students.
One that comes to mind is McDaniel College in Westminster. I don’t know about off-campus hangouts, but it’s a nice little town with good bars and restaurants. Trouble is, the town isn’t really walkable from campus (some pretty steep hills), and public transportation is nil unless the college runs a shuttle service.
Thanks for the feedback. I was accepted at McDaniel and decided against it, in small part due to the location. I like the idea of being able to walk or (easily) catch a bus for a short ride off campus. I plan to be spending the VAST majority of my time on campus, but it’s nice to have the option.
Unfortunately, Maryland doesn’t have a lot of LACs. Goucher and Loyola are self-contained campuses in high traffic areas. St. John’s in Annapolis might be an option, but that program isn’t for everybody. I don’t know anything about Washington College in Chestertown on the Eastern Shore. Good luck.
I’m actually going to check out Washington College tomorrow! I’ve been to Goucher and Allegheny - as well as Hood and think I will land at one of the four. I like them all so it’s just a matter of figuring out which is the best fit when it comes to the details.
Thanks very much for your replies.
