Would penn state university park (summer) or university of maryland be a better choice for business. The summer is not a huge issue for me... which school would be more reputable/offer better jobs for employment in 4 years. thanks for your thoughts.
By the way the cost is not a huge factor b.c both are out of state so they are approximately the same cost..( this will also be on the Penn state page to c others opinions)

I would say it doesn’t matter all that much, they are both very well respected. Have you visited both schools?

I’ve never been to maryland but i loved Penn state! I am quite sure i would like maryland too though…

I would visit Maryland if I were you. You may not like it, and that will make your decision easy. If you don’t visit it, I would certainly choose Penn State, as you know you love it there.

Nyman def visit Maryland the campus is huge and gorgeous I think you will like it.

I have a similar choice to make, but it’s btw Maryland Spring and Penn State Fall. I’m not a business major though. I think i’m leaning toward PSU because I really don’t like the freshmen connection option. Im also thinking of Pitt, but I think I’m goiingto rule that out.

college park sucks penn state is a lot better for raging
everyone gets into penn state but they are pretty similar acamdemically

I have gotten into both business schools and have visited both and I loved both campuses equally, but Penn States Business school is better than Maryland’s by a decent amount. Penn states business school is a brand facility and seems much nicer. I would have to say that Penn State > Maryland, at least for business

You should really visit UMD.

Penn state, in the middle of nowhere but a really great college town, great football, lots of school spirt, really large but feels small somehow, business school probably similar reputation as MD, really large alumni base. I think Wall Street ranked Penn as #1 for Recruiting.

MD. Not so great college town but you have D.C and Baltimore not too far away. Lots of school spirit - basketball is more popular, very diverse student body (Penn State, not as diverse.), both campuses are pretty…I personally like Penn State’s campus better. When I went to Maryland 25 years ago, the campus seemed dead on the weekends when there wasn’t a football game going on. It seemed like a lot of kids went home…I am not sure how it is now. I honestly don’t know what the weekends are like at Penn state but as an OOS student, you may want to find out.

They are both great schools. Congrats! You just have to visit MD and decide for yourself!

I agree, visit and than make your decision. There is something about the feel of the campus. Seeing it on the net is just not the same.

DS (UMD) would rather die than attend his sister’s college (VT). She feels the same way about death if she had to attend UMD.

There is a vibe in the air and it is unique to every college.

As far as being dead on weekends, it is, but 25 yrs ago there was no metro to dc at college park.

Also, I think that really is a bigger impact for freshman, than upperclassman. Upperclassman live off campus, so the social circle is different. When our DS lived in the dorms (fresh and soph), he spent his breaks at home. Now he is off campus, he pops in at home, but spends it at UMDCP. He informed us yesterday that his intentions for the summer is to stay at UMDCP over the summer, because all of his friends are staying, and in his words “let’s face it mom, this is my last summer with them because we all will graduate next yr”.

I actually think that should tell you, as big of a school as UMD is they still create deep bonds with friends, and don’t see it as being just you are a number school.

Good luck.
