Anyone have any insight on this campus? In particular, wondering about the social life of a dry campus?

Do you know how this is enforced? Can you go to a party say at the University of Scranton with a group of kids, and take a taxi back or have a designated driver without getting in trouble?

Is there any social life within walking distance?

The school looks fabulous and has great programs but I am concerned about this rule.

Marywood ahh! Marywood! I live about 5 minutes away from Marywood in Dickson City PA. I love the area I come from, but if your looking for an amazing social life and night life, I'm not sure this is the place for you (which is only my opinion probably cause i lived here all my life and I dont know where you come from). Depending on what you want to go to Marywood for, Marywood can be a great school. Marywood is a relatively small campus and I believe you should be able to catch a taxi between Marywood and Scranton U, Although there not THAT far away from eachother. Alot of high school kids tend to be at the U parties. There are some really fantastic bars and clubs as well. We also have a huge variety of foods and items that people wouldn't find in any other part of the USA. If you're from out of state or even from out of NEPA, you should come check it out before making a decision. We have low crime, low violence, and a pretty laid back life style. Even I knew where you were coming from I think i could give you a ton more info! Happy college searching =D

We currently live in Queens, New York. We did visit the campus and are interested in the school. The only thing that worries me is the fact that the campus is dry. Do not want my son to get in any trouble and expect boys to be boys. Not looking for a spectacular night life but 3 years of no socializing/partying seems impossible to adhere to.

Do you know how the rule is enforced? Many thanks for your insight. And yes, the campus and surrounding area is very pretty.

I've attended a music camp there over the summer with my friend. There was very little enforcement of it being dry, however I realise that can be very different during the actual school year. I actually never knew they were a dry campus up until this post. I'll ask around though and see what I can find out for you. Regardless he should have no problem going down to down Scranton's nightlife. It's a really safe city in my opinion. Theres always a ton of parties at the U, but I've never heard much about Marywood to be honest.
