It was announced today that William and Mary's mascot will now be the griffin. What do you think?

I was betting it would be the Wren or Phoenix (my favorite at the time), but upon reflection, I think its a good choice.

They do a fairly good job justifying it here: [William & Mary - About the New Mascot](About the Griffin | William & Mary)

I am happy. Honestly I was expecting a disaster the way this whole thing has gone. I have bolded the most important part of Reveley’s email message:

put the feathers back! They can be griffin feathers!

Exactly! Apparently Reveley made it a special point in his review that the feathers on the mascot had to be emphasized. During the unveiling, part of it had someone dumping an armfull of green and gold feathers on the stage. I think it’s only a matter of time until we get the old logo back… err, I mean, a new logo with Griffin feathers.

I was in favor of the Ampersand.

got a mention on the daily show tonight, 2nd segment.

I can’t hear the word Gryffin without thinking Gryffindor. Oh well other than that I like the new mascot I guess.
