P.S.: This is the exact e-mail I sent to the student affairs adviser for the major and after 4 days I have yet to receive a response. I would appreciate any information anyone may be able to offer about this, especially since my Phase I is this Thursday. Thanks!

On the Media Studies major website, there is a list of the allowed courses that fulfill the requirement of elective courses.

Mass Communications at UC Berkeley: Requirements - Courses

However, there is also a list under "Spring 2009" that also have courses for the Media Studies major, but they are not the same as the other page and are not specified for what they fulfill.

Mass Communications at UC Berkeley: Course Offerings

On the course list for Spring 2009, are courses listed here that do not satisfy another sector of required courses such as a core or methods course count towards fulfilling electives? For example, on the "Spring 2009" list, there are courses such as American Studies 101 and Film 108. However, neither of these courses, as well as many others, are not on the "Required Courses" list. Do these qualify as classes satisfying
electives?
