Hi, I just graduate from UCLA with an econ major. Now, I want to pursue a master degree in accounting, but I really don't know which school I should apply. Does anyone knows any good schools that have a good Macc program? And I am now considering USC but my GPA wasn't good at UCLA so I don't know if I will have any chances getting in. Can someone give me some advice for that? Does Cal State Fullerton have a good Master in accounting program? I would be so appreciate if someone could reply me with any of these questions. :)

Fullerton, along w/ SDSU, univ of San Diego, Univ. of Santa Clara, USC are the only 5 school in California that have AACSB accounting accreditation. However, accreditation in accounting in not essential, this has been discussed many times in the business forum. Other cal state campus offer MAcc programs too.

Do you have an accounting minor from UCLA or have taken some accounting courses already? If not, you might want to consider a MAcc program that designed for non-accounting majors. Check into the contents/description of each program to find if it suits your need. For intance, SJSU’s MAcc is designed for non-accounting major. But Cal Poly’s MAcc is an in-depth study for Taxation.

Oops, I mean Santa Clara Universtiy for “Univ. of Santa Clara”

what’s AACSB accounting accreditation? Yes, I took many accounting classes at UCLtA. And I am looking for a good MACC program. So if anyone know any good Macc program(either in CA or out of CA) please let me know. Thank you!!!

No, I don’t have a minor in Accounting at UCLA.

Arieltsui, I suggest you also post on business forum since there’s more traffic for accounting discussion over there.

For AACSB accreditation, here is a link for explanation

why can’t you just take some accounting courses at a community college to qualify to sit for the cpa exam instead of going for the masters in accounting? since you already have accounting courses, can’t you just take a little more courses to fulfill the requirements to sit and get the CPA?

The goal of the getting a masters or being a CPA is to get a good job. Going to community college won’t hook you up with recruiters but certain masters programs will hook you up with the Big 4.

Am I right?

You are right, masters programs will hook you up.

Does AACSB really matter? At Golden Gate University they get recruited by the Big 4 but GGU isn’t AACSB accredited.

I don’t plan to be a teacher. What does AACSB matter?
