I have been accepted at EPFL (Switzerland) for master in Mechanical Engineering with an Excellence Scholarship from EPFL (full scholarship) and I have also been accepted at Imperial College London with a departmental scholarship (partial scholarship).
With the scholarship from EPFL I would be able to cover all of my expenses on my own (since tuition fee is very low), however, the tuition fee at Imperial College London is very high compared to that at EPFL.
I have also been admitted to ETH Zurich, however, I did not apply for a scholarship. The reason why I consider EPFL and ETHZ is because after I finish my master’s degree I want to continue a PhD at ETHZ and I believe it is easier to get admitted if you have finished your Master degree in Switzerland, EPFL or ETHZ, more specifically.
Which choice should I make? I am attracted to the idea of living for a year in London, and getting a Master degree from a renowned university like Imperial College London, however, I am afraid that it will be more difficult for me to continue my PhD at ETHZ once I finish my Master degree in England. I am also coming from a non-EU country which makes things more difficult for me.
I would also like to mention that the degree from Imperial College London is more research-oriented and lasts only for a year, whereas degrees in Switzerland last for at least 1.5 years and are more teaching-oriented.
Do you think that I am considering the right aspects or I am forgetting something important? What would you do?
I want to apply to EPFL. What sort of profile is required? How is the job opportunity after MS in Mechanical at EPFL?
