I’ve spoken to most of these schools and a couple of girls already in the program. Portland counselor was and has been so helpfull. San Fran, and Seattle EXPENSIVE! spoke to two girls in the program. They are trying to get an apt. near the hospital , and its too pricey. San Fran is just expensive all the way around.

In regards to financial aid, as a starting point, find out the “percentage of need that is met” by each college. That data is available online, such as on collegeboard’s website and the US Dept. of Education website for colleges.

Keep in mind that even a college that promises to meet “100% of proven need” is likely to still require that a student take out federal loans and do work study during the school year and/or work during the summers.

Second, look on the college’s financial aid website to see if they list any criteria for merit scholarships.

Some colleges place an emphasis upon merit scholarships (mainly the less selective colleges). Some colleges only offer need-based aid (including some of the richest and most selective colleges). Other colleges offer a mix. Full ride scholarships are extremely rare, but many private colleges are willing to offer discounts of up to 50% off of tuition for well-qualified students.

@Buenavida Well for UCI nursing, a direct entry program, i only have to pay 6k and that includes housing as well. it is a public school and i recieved a lot of grant money because of my high gpa and low income status.

University of Alabama Birmingham is not direct entry. I just checked the website and it says students must complete two years of prerequisites at UAB then apply to the School of Nursing upper-division nursing curriculum

Messiah College in Grantham Pa and Eastern University in Radnor Pa are both direct entry.

Mansfield University ¶

FYI - Mansfield U. is in a very small town. Last time I checked, you need to go at least an hour away for their nursing program, in a different town.

Clemson (SC)
UVA (VA)

I think I’ve gotten all the additions and subtractions from the last few pages. I’m including the link to the spreadsheet.

Kenobeanie is right - Mansfield University is a direct entry program. I spoke with Dr. Janine Sheehe, who is the Dept. Chair. (570)662-4522. Nursing program link: [Nursing - Mansfield University](http://www2.mansfield.edu/nursing/)

Nursing students live at the Mansfield, PA campus for two years, and then move to live at the Sayre, PA campus for clinicals at Robert Packer Hospital. As Charlieschm states, the campuses are about an hour away from each other. Both campuses are very close to the NY state line. School has about 2,800 undergradutes.
