Master List of Final Decisions, Fall 2012

This thread is for reporting decisions among acceptances to music programs that start in 2012. Please report acceptances over at the <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/music-major/1260441-master-list-music-school-acceptances-fall-2012-a.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/music-major/1260441-master-list-music-school-acceptances-fall-2012-a.html</a></p>

This year’s list begins with Meshaboo, who reports a decision in favor of the BA program in Music Industry at the University of New Haven. Congratulations.

I have been neglecting this list while the bulk of acceptances came in. Now that we have a reasonable number of decisions, I will start updating here a little more frequently. If you have reported an acceptance over on the http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/music-major/1260441-master-list-music-school-acceptances-fall-2012-a-55.html</a> have reached a decision and are not on the list here, please let us know where you will be headed.

Son will be headed to McGill, BM-Composition, emphasis Classical Guitar.

Thanks to all have contributed over the years to this forum. It has been so helpful. Special thanks to compmom for her wise advice and constant encouragment throughout the audition process, and to violindad for answering all of our McGill specific questions.

Headed to Juilliard, BM Vocal Performance

Congratulations to VMT and son, and to nyboundsoprano who will be living up to her screen name very soon.

As noted on other threads, congratulations to StoneMagic and son on the choice of University of South Carolina, and to teachermom73 and son on the choice of Westminster Choir College.

My son chose UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music BA Performance (alto sax obviously)

Congratulations to AltoSxMom and son.

D is going to Carnegie Mellon, BFA performance, viola.

I am delighted to report that my S is going to USC Thorton School of Music in the Popular Music Program (Singer/Songwriter). Special thank you to Jazz/Shreddermom for answering all of my questions about the program!

Congratulations to cookerdee and daughter. and to poprockmom and son.

Since my son’s first choice was Oberlin and he was accepted in December through Early Review, it should not be much of a surprise that he will be attending Oberlin in the Fall. I do want to encourage future composition majors to look at the University of Missouri - Columbia’s Composition program. It is well funded. Offers two full tuition scholarships each year, has a great summer festival, a graduste music group dedicated to new music and excellent faculty dedicated to pushing the Composition program into the upper tier for new music. Columbia is also a very nice small city.

Well Compdad… since our two acceptances were first to post on the Acceptance thread… I thought it only fitting to follow suit here. My D will also accept at Oberlin - for Vocal Performance.

And for all people who think that a pricey school is out of reach, I urge you to go for it! You never know what the final offer of a school will be in comparison to other “more affordable” schools. For us, it ended up being very comparable once you took the cost of attending and subtracted out the offers. It helps that Oberlin meets all need.

Also - to all the sopranos out there… don’t give up just because everyone says there are five million sopranos trying out for each school. You never know - you might be that soprano that is the perfect fit!

Heading to Oberlin on Sunday for “All Roads!”

Very cool Rosie26! I must second your comment about money. Between merit and gift aid, Oberlin was very generous. Unfortunately not going to All Roads. Should be up later, and quicker than we know it, August 28 will be here.

Wow, what a whirlwind, but S has decided. He will be attending Mansfield University for Music Ed. Vocal will be his primary and viola secondary where he will be in both the Concert Choir and the Symphony Orchestra. What more could a student want? ;)

going to major in music composition at Boston University College of Fine Arts, School of Music. They gave him a nice financial package… and he is psyched!

He was also accepted into the Hartt School of Music and the University of New Hampshire…

Congratulations to Compdad and son, Rosie26 and daughter, MusicMomNY and son, and chalkboard2010 and son.

Decided on Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University for MM Flute Performance :-)

Congratulations to musician4u.
