Congratulations to khatlestad and son.

BM Sacred Music/Organ - Our applications went to: Furman, Samford, Denver, Westminster Choir, Oberlin, Duquesne, Catholic University, and William and Mary. Last audition next week at Oberlin, then “we” are finished!!! Good news from Samford, and Duquesne so far, and things are looking great for WCC! Will keep all posted after Oberlin.

Congratulations to krich. I have guessed that you are in the BM in Church Music at Samford and the BM in Performance/Sacred Music at Duquesne. Please let me know if either guess is wrong and I will correct it.

Note to anyone with acceptances: we also keep scholarship information in our spreadsheet of acceptances (available with read only access at https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AlrYKCkVJdIBdDJtY1c5elJ1YjdRSTk3OE5NQlpvTFE&hl=en&authkey=CMXyulM by the way). If you would like to share news about any scholarships received, whether for talent or academics, we will be happy to include them there. I completely understand if you prefer not to share that information.

Yes, BassDad, that is correct! Keeping the faith that all the rest will be responding with a yes, so there are lots of choices in finding the program with the best fit.

My S just received an $11,000 merit scholarship to Belmont. We are still waiting on his acceptance to the School of Music though, and possible additional music scholarships.

Thanks, honestmom. Please let us know when word of the music school acceptance or the other scholarships comes through.

D was accepted at Colorado Boulder for vocal performance.

Denied at CCM - was suffering with a cold for that audition which is pretty nasty for a vocalist - and honestly did not feel CCM was the right fit for anyway - so all has worked out so far.

Congratulations once again to rajunlimted and Daughter. I hope she’s feeling better.

Hi I am a year out and doing college tours in about a month or so. My son is in the 11th grad. seems hard to come by colleges for students looking for contemporary music study. On our list we have The New School in NYC, McNally Smith-Minnesota, Berklee Music College and then I draw a blank. His aspiration s to perform or compose — not interested in being a music teacher (I know teaching will likely be his plan B in terms of making a living - don’t want o burst his bubble). Most school on the acceptance list have European/classical focus, yes?

renee626, welcome. This specific thread is for posting acceptances for the current admissions cycle, and your question would best be addressed within the body of the forum by starting a new thread.

As you have a similar thread here http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/1093346-college-recommentation-contemporary-music.html, I’m going to post there, point you in a few directions to get you started. I’m also going to ask a moderator to move that thread from the search and selection forum to the music major forum.

Congratulations to tonofclayfin on an acceptance at the University of North Texas for a BM in Jazz Studies (I think) on drumset, as noted in another thread.

D was accepted to Ithaca College School of Music for vocal performance.

Congratulations to hmh3515 and daughter. I will assume that is a BM program unless told otherwise.

Posted on the audition experiences thread: Msilvers-Jazz Bass Duquesne.

Momofbassist… did we miss picking one up? I can’t seem to find it within the referenced thread. Do you have a specific post#?

I do see where MSilvers has mentioned NYU and Frost, but no acceptances were reported.

I believe she means post #55 in http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/music-major/1069861-audition-experiences-fall-2011-a-4.html#post12059749

From MSilvers other postings, I am going to assume that it is a BM Jazz Studies on Electric Bass and will post to ask whether that is correct.

Therefore, congratulations to MSilvers as noted by Momofbassist on another thread.

Had to read it three times before I saw “I got in”.

Must be going deaf in one eye.

For those that are looking for prior year’s scholarship detail, it’s here http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/music-major/886715-2010-scholarship-thread.html with other years’ links within.

May give you an idea of some ranges, but the individual circumstances make comparisons virtually impossible.

My S only did one audition. Today we received the letter - accepted into Belmont School of Music, Commercial Music violin. He will be on the performance emphasis track.
