My son has been accepted to the Hartt School (University of Hartford) for BM in Double Bass Performance/Music Education! (After a long weekend wondering exactly what he was accepted for since he received an acceptance email on Christmas Eve but it didn’t say if it was only to U of H or Hartt.)

Congratulations to LGSMom and daughter, as well as to Momofbassist and son.

I am brand new to the forum, hello everyone! S accepted to Berklee, major Professional Music, keyboards.

Congratulations, Gizmusic and son.

My daughter got her acceptance from Ithaca College as a music performance education major. She also received the Presidential Scholarship. She was thrilled. It’s her first acceptance from a music school and we weren’t expecting to hear this early.

Congratulations to Suzukimomto2 and D.

S also accepted to Northeastern University, Music Technology, and to University of New Haven, Music and Sound Recording. Anyone interested in music and sound recording should check out U of New Haven, it seems like a hidden gem.

Suzukimomto2 (and anyone else),

we also use our spreadsheet to keep track of the amounts of scholarships if you are willing to provide that information. We completely understand if you do not wish to do so.

Gizmusic and son,

Congratulations on the other acceptances. Unless I hear otherwise, I will assume that he is interested in the BS program at New Haven, rather than the BA.

Son’s acceptance to Northeastern came with $20,000 a year Dean’s scholarship, and acceptance to Univ. of New Haven came with $20,000 a year Presidential scholarship.

Congratulations on the scholarships to all.

Bassdad, S’s Hartford/Hartt admission came an with invitation to the University Honors program, and Presidential scholarship, $13.5k. Thanks for tracking this!

Congratulations! Did your daughter audition in Ithaca on December 11th? Did she apply EA or ED or regular?

Yes, LaLaMom, she did audition on the 11th. She applied regular decision and received a $15,00 Presidential scholarship. It’s nice to have an acceptance - the pressure has lightened somewhat although she still has 3 more auditions to attend.

Thanks, Suzukimomoto2. My daughter auditioned that day too for vocal performance. We’re still waiting to hear – fingers crossed! She has several more auditions to go…

wait how did people get accepted to berklee already?? i applied early action and auditioned dec 14th, and i thought decisions wents out jan 31??

It seems a first for this year, 18karat. From a friend, we heard they sent out a few “early” early acceptances a week or so ago. Something like 200 or so out of all the early action applicants. A drop in the bucket. I wouldn’t feel too left out!

thank you, that’s what i figured. Still a bit odd, but from what I can tell all the people accepted auditioned in boston a couple weeks before I did, and mine was a regional anyways, so they probably had enough time to get through all of their info and make a decision about them.

i wonder why they would do that though?

18Karat, I think the reason is competition for people to matriculate - the same reason many Ivies and top athletic schools send “likely letters” before they really have to. Last year my son and others received a “likely email” shortly after his audition at NYU basically telling him that he would be accepted when official letters went out. (From what we could tell, Steinhardt’s jazz department had never done this before.) While he was still waiting to hear from other schools, this definitely turned his head favorably toward NYU for a bit. It just feels good to be clearly wanted and causes the student to view the school more positively from that point on.

Berklee’s recent acceptance mailing included some regional auditioners, but still… I would not be concerned. It’s still just a drop in the bucket.

hm, makes sense definitely. after I got accepted to cornish i felt really good about myself, it was a nice boost. yeah and after talking to more people it seems they sent out letters to people who auditioned quite a while ago, as auditions for early action period started months ago. mine was only on dec 14th so i’m fine with waiting until jan 31. i just thought that some first priority went out to students who got high scholarships or something which made me worry
