Squiggles , which school is your s leaning towards? Congrats on both.

music twins, did you get the acceptance by email first. my s applied early action and auditioned in dec. checking email daily, but will probably have to wait until Jan. 31

my s went to summer program 5 week and only wants berklee- very nervewracking

bassdad, do u have a child at BCOM

@bassguitmom - S has 7 other schools he is auditioning at or waiting for a decision on. He will be back in Boston in Feb and in NYC in March and wants to tour the schools he has been admitted to again - although he knows Berklee very well from the 5-week and of course had a great time while there.

Good luck with Berklee - I know it is so hard to wait. Jan 31 seems so far away! Is your S auditioning anywhere else? Was he at the 5 week in 2011 or 2010?

2011 - he is waiting until 1/31 and will then go to plan B

bassguitmom,

Assuming by BCOM you mean Berklee College of Music, then no. My daughter graduated from Oberlin in 2009. While she does play bass guitar, the double bass is her primary instrument. I do have some friends whose son is a student there.

yes i did mean Berklee. Does your friend son like it there?

bassguitmom, yes the twins were notified by e-mail late on Dec 22nd, very early along with Squiggles S. My twins do have other auditions coming which will hopefully add some interesting options for final decisions. Berklee is still in consideration and we are proud of the kids for getting in. Sorry your S has to wait longer! This music major application process is a lot of hurry up and wait!

bassguitmom,

Yes, he likes it there quite a bit.

bassguitmom - Ok - I was thinking they may have met but S was there in 2010. Well, fingers crossed for you and S - would be so nice to be all done!

bassguitmom-my son was at the 5 week this summer. His first name is Aidan. Did your son meet a bass player named Aidan from Lexington, MA?

I just had to post on this page because my username fits in so well here ;)

Son accepted at Loyola University New Orleans for BM Jazz Studies [trumpet].

Congratulations to you and your son TrumpetDad!

Big congratulations! Sitting at my northern desk, looking out to a gray sky-- can’t help thinking-- a major in jazz trumpet, in New Orleans??? Yes, yes, yes!!!

Congratulations to TrumpetDad and son. I am happy to see some admissions news on this thread after the holiday lull.

Congrats TrumpetDad’s S! To study trumpet in New Orleans…I can’t imagine. Have you seen the HBO series Treme at all? It makes ME want to study trumpet in NO.

Thanks, all. I was given Season I of Trem

Love Treme! Congrats trumpetdad and son. Good luck with the other auditions.

Forgive me for being new to this whole college confidential thing, but BassDad, how do I report my acceptances? So far it’s just University of Iowa.

PianoMan, just post details as I did in post #52, plus any scholarship info, if any, and BassDad will add it to the spreadsheet. Link to spreadsheet is in post #3.
