Master List of Music School Acceptances, Fall 2012

Hello, sorry for the confusion. The spreadsheet lists my daughter as being accepted at Peabody, but she was accepted at Roosevelt University Chicago College of Performing Arts. Also, does anyone know if Indiana Jacobs School of Music is still sending out emails regarding scholarships? Pins and needles here.

Holy crap…nyboundsoprano…that’s incredible! Congrats!

also, congratulations to all of the wonderful accomplishments listed!

doctorlove11, We also have not heard from Jacobs regarding any offer of merit yet but read it could be up to April 15 to hear. If we do not get anything today we will call on Monday to ask.

Thank you for that information!!

Scholarship offers for our S (music ed and trombone performance dual major):

UC CCM: $2K academic + $3K music
IU Jacobs: $15K music

We were pleased and surprised with the IU offer, but it doesn’t overcome the in-state tuition advantage at CCM. Which is just fine, becasue I think he’s had his heart set on CCM ever since we visited.

Congratulations to all of you fine young musicians (and parents) on some amazing accomplishments.

Cello. I’m nothing special at it, which is probably why I got rejected from Lawrence. But I’ve heard good things about Blair.

Congratulations to violinist1314, nyboundsoprano, and my4boys and son.

doctorlove11, I apologize for the error and have fixed it in the spreadsheet. It will appear on CC next time I do an updated list, probably tonight.

S received email yesterday from Jacobs with scholarship info, but some on this forum had posted offers from them earlier in the week, so they didn’t all come out at once.

DS would be getting a BM degree in music business/management if he decides to go to Berklee. He also received $8000 in scholarship money.

Proud of my twins! They were accepted every where they auditioned. D withdrew from one school before her audition, so obviously was not accepted. We kept applications limited to 4 a piece as there was no way we could manage more than that. They applied EA to Berklee as their first choice, to see what happened. Both were accepted but unfortunately there was not enough Fin Aid offered for them to attend. D may defer at Berklee for a year and re-audition, to keep that opportunity on the back burner.

D will attend the College of Charleston, BA music - performance concentration classical string bass and Jazz studies, electric and upright. She received scholarship from both departments and will be expected to perform in orchestra and jazz ensembles which holds great appeal for her. It is a smaller school in a charming, arty city where she clicked with the department and they with her. The promise of many performance opportunities within the school and outside was a plus. .

S awaiting a final decision pending scholarship information from Miami/Frost.

@musictwins - My son’s composition teacher before he went to college is now at College of Charleston (he was at UC Berkeley at the time) and is really invigorating the new music scene in the town and college. He’s a terrific guy - Yiorgos Vassilandonakis. If your daughter has a chance to take a class with him, I HIGHLY recommend that she does.

Thank you everyone! We will keep our hopes up!

Congratulations to musictwins and daughter on the decision.

Congratulations also to sthflorida and son on son’s acceptance to Berklee as noted in another thread. Major and primary instrument will hopefully be forthcoming.

Congratulations once more to violamomnj and daughter on daughter’s decision to attend McGill, as noted in another thread.

BassDad, whenever you start the Decisions thread, my D informs me that McGill’s Schulich School of Music is definitely the place for her! Very proud and happy.

Since I am without my usual helper this year, I have not even been trying to keep up with a separate decisions thread at this stage of the game. Decisions are being noted in the spreadsheet and reported on this thread in bold in the periodic listings. Once a reasonable number of decisions have been announced, I will post a report on the decisions thread.

BassDad - we miss ViolaDad - is everything okay?

Thank you BassDad.
Son was accepted to Berklee & University of South Florida for BM Performance - Trumpet.
Now comes the grueling decision of private expensive, straddled w debt vs instate… erghh!

Such great news on this thread - I have to join in!
Daughter was accepted to the following programs as BM Performance - Oboe:

University of Florida with merit scholarship
University of South Florida with scholarship
Florida State University - no scholarship offer to date :(

Good luck to all with the hard decisions!

My son is still waiting to get an official response from NEC? We were sure it would come by today but didn’t. Is there anybody who hasn’t heard from NEC yet? He can’t start making decisions until he has all the offers in front of him. He is being pressured by schools and teachers he has already heard from.
