Master List of Music School Acceptances, Fall 2012

CruiseQueen, in addition to telling me her instrument or voice, could you also tell me which one of the Music Ed programs at Rowan to which she has been accepted? I see programs for a BME with a BA in Education with either an instrumental or vocal emphasis for the BME, plus a Bachelor of Jazz Studies with a BA in Education.

I was accepted to the Jacobs School of Music for a BM in composition.

s accepted berklee -bm- guitar- major undecided (possibly MP & E), will attend

Son accepted at Berklee College of Music for BM Performance [trumpet].

Congratulations to those who heard from Berklee! Bassguitarmom, that was a fast decision to attend!! Your child can breathe easy now.

Oh sorry BassDad - it was the BME instrumental (clarinet).

Congratulations, Junebugxpn. Do you have a primary instrument or voice that you use in composition?

Congratulations, bassguitmom and son. Is it correct that he will be studying standard guitar rather than bass guitar despite the screen name? Please let us know when he chooses a major.

Congratulations again to TrumpetDad and son.

I’m doing the “performance study option 2” for composition majors which does not require me to study any specific instrument.
Thank you BassDad!

Hello. I am a new member to this very informative forum. I have enjoyed reading all the posts and appreciate the perspective of seasoned music parents going through the college process with their kids. Applying to music programs add an extra layer of work and stress that we all can relate to. My S just received his first acceptance today at Berklee. His primary instrument is the piano. He is thinking about majoring in contemporary writing and production. He did several workshops at Berklee this summer and really felt at home. Now I can breath after his acceptance. We will have to wait until late March/ April 1 for the others. Looking forward to participating!

Just received word of a $12,000/year scholarship.

Junebugxpn, even though no instrument is required is there one that you consider yourself better at than others, or that you tend to use when composing? Or do you write without resorting to playing your compositions at all?

Congratulations to poprockmom and son, and to TrumpetDad and son.

I use the piano when I compose.

Congrats Trumpet dad, bassguitmom and poprockmom and sons! Be sure to check out the threads regarding housing for Berklee -

Just received a letter from Temple awarding my daughter a $10,000/year scholarship.

Squiggles, I did a thread search by typing, “Berklee Housing” and it basically gave me threads on anything Berklee and some off campus housing info that wasn’t very helpful. I am new to this forum and I must not be searching effectively. Are you referring to sending a housing deposit to secure a dorm room? Also, cheers to you and your family for impressive early acceptances and scholarship offers!!! He must be one talented young man!..(as well as numerous others on this forum)

Congratulations, violamomnj and daughter.
