It’s actually a BS in Recording Arts at IU. Sorry I didn’t specify earlier.

Just received word of a $7,500/yr. academic scholarship.

Congratulations to your son, TrumpetDad!

My husband and I have been reading the music major threads for awhile, and have learned so much. We especially appreciate the senior “Dads” who are so faithful to organize information and give sound advice.

That said, I felt like the least I could do was finally register on CC and post that my son was accepted in December at Berklee for piano with a $12,000 annual scholarship. He is still waiting to hear results from another east cost conservatory and two midwest universities for jazz studies. This whole music school search and audition process was very new to our family, so I might not be a great source of information, but if anyone has Berklee questions, I’ll try my best to answer them!

Congrats to all on the acceptances & scholarships.

My d has been accepted to The College of NJ (TCNJ), BM - Music Ed, Clarinet.

Congratulation to all who have acceptances so far. And wishing everyone the best for the future.

S2 was accepted early decision in December to Vassar College -BA Music and BA Physics.

Hey All. No one has mentioned this, but you may not know that there are anxious people out there on waitlists for the school they really want. If you know for sure that you’re not going to accept an offer at a school, it would be really great if you could contact the school and decline the offer. That way those of us on waitlists don’t have to wait until May 1 to find out if we got in. Thanks!!

Wanted to report that D is accepted to College Of Charleston, BA Music, Jazz Studies concentration.

Congratulations to the others who have heard.

Congratulations again to musictwins and daughter.

Nice chemusic! A *real *Vassar ED accept eh? ;)

Congratulations also to chemusic and son. Does S2 sing or play an instrument that I can list as his primary?

Congratulations once more to TrumpetDad and son on the scholarship.

Congratulations to jazzpianomom1 and son.

Congratulations again to CruiseQueen and daughter. I have several friends who are grads of the TCNJ Music Ed program.

Hi BassDad

S2 plays bassoon and bass guitar - actually almost equally - he likes all kinds of music.
He also plays a drum set with at least 7 cymbals - I have lost count! Anyway you can list him under bassoon as his primary.

Thanks BassDad for putting together the list - I have been on CC ‘forever’ and admire how you have helped so many people - S2 is my youngest but I will stay around to help out others when I can.

Thank you, chemusic. Will do.

Question for all you pros out there:

My D just finished her 6th audition out of 9. We find ourselves with one acceptance at a top music school with very reasonable tuition, and others that we are waiting to hear from. One of the prescreens she passed, we are ready to pass on because of “talk” that they don’t give out much money ever, and she is leaning more toward a university experience after actually going to some of these schools.

Any recommendations on how to let the other school know that she is not planning on attending the audition day? I would think they would like to know since perhaps someone would like her spot. Planning on sending a thank you for the invitation email, so appreciate it etc.

Any experiences you can relate or info to share would be much appreciated!
