headoflife, they sent my D an e-mail yesterday with the award letter attached. I had contacted the school a week before and they also told me 4/1. It’s for oboe. What kind of music did you apply for?

BassDad - S auditioned on clarinet at Indiana. The other schools only required scores and recordings.

Still waiting to hear from schools, however, S accepted to Tanglewood for composition.

My daughter just received her acceptance letter (email) from Northwestern (Bienen School of Music). BM violin performance. No word on aid yet.

Congratulations to StringPop and daughter.

Big day! DS accepted to Eastman for BM in trombone performance and NU dual degree(trombone performance and biology). He also got info on merit from UIUC. Between an academic scholarship ($2000) and music merit he received $13,500 a year.

D just received an email: accepted to Northwestern University Bienen School of Music, BM Piano Performance.

Hurray!! Finally we are hearing from schools! Thanks for keeping us all updated, BassDad!

Congratulations to headoflife and son, and to lastbird and daughter. Yes, indeed, the floodgates are about to open.

Finally officially accepted to Eastman for MM Viola Performance. $21,600 per year in scholarship, plus a stipend to be a graduate Teaching Assistant for one of the viola professors.

Did Eastman send an email or a snail mail letter?

Accepted to the following schools for BM saxophone performance: Eastman School of Music (also BM Theory), University of Iowa, and Ithaca College.

We have heard thus far from the following for Cello, BM in Performance:

Cleveland Institute of Music (no financial info yet) - by email yesterday
University of Maryland (full tuition scholarship at $9000 a year) - by email/letter a couple weeks ago

Still awaiting four more.

We’ve been following this thread, and appreciate the information being available during this time of anxious waiting, so thought we would join in. Thanks!

D was accepted to Northwestern Weinberg and Bienen (Voice- BM Performance) for Dual Degree program! Posted earlier she was accepted to University of Michigan and Michigan State University. She was also accepted to University of Mich’s LSA program for their Dual Degree Program and Michgian State offered a $12,000 a year for 4 years scholarship.

I was accepted yesterday to Northwestern University-both the Bienen School of Music (BM, Oboe Performance) and Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences (BS, Biology) for their dual degree program! No financial info yet. But in the interim since my acceptance at IU, I have also been unofficially accepted to the Peabody Conservatory (won’t announce it formally on here until I have an email or letter), and received a Hutton Honors College Scholarship of $3000/year from IU. Thanks so much for keeping this list updated!

Congratulations to lukeg3891, tsaxgeek, CellistMom and offspring, LuvMyMezzo and daughter, and JJOboe.

CellistMom, would you care to tell us whether your cellist is a son or daughter? For now, I have him or her listed as CellistMom’s O (for offspring, since I do not want to call a presumably 17 or 18-year-old a child). Gender probably does not matter as much for a cellist as it would for a singer or for certain instruments like harp or low brass where gender imbalances are more common.

LuvMyMezzo, does your daughter have an intended non-music major at Weinberg and LSA? Would that be for a BA, a BS or some other degree?

D accepted to Ithaca and to Tanglewood for the summer, double bass
waiting on others…

Anyone heard from MSM yet?

So far S has been accepted to Duquesne and Baldwin Wallace for violin performance. Duquesne offered $22,000. Waiting on complete offer from BW. Waiting on the rest.

Congratulations to debtaps and daughter. I assume that the Ithaca acceptance is a degree program for a BM in double bass performance, and not a summer program like Tanglewood. Please let me know if any of that is wrong.

Yes, BM Performance at Ithaca, Tanglewood is for 2 week double bass program and 6 week festival orchestra

OK, great. My daughter did both those Tanglewood programs the summer before her senior year of high school and enjoyed them tremendously.
