<p>Thanks to everyone who offered words of encouragement–it truly is comforting to know that we are not alone in this process. We know we are blessed to have options and are trying to focus on the success of his audition season. We will take a shot at getting the award offer increased, but if we are unsuccessful in that project then he does have several other school options that are quality and affordable. There is always grad school. :)</p>
<p>S got rejection from Oberlin conservatory - flute, and college - French. We thought Bard was harder to get into the college and didn’t submit S’s test scores which were optional. He got acceptance from Bard for French, which he’ll turn down. Oberlin college said they had 6100 apply!</p>
<p>Officially accepted to the Vanderbilt University Blair School of Music (BM, Oboe Performance with a second major in Biology.) Also, I found out that my unofficial acceptance to the Peabody Conservatory materialized into an official one, and I was admitted to the double degree program with Johns Hopkins University! Together, the program is for a BM in Oboe Performance and a BS in Biology. Congratulations to all that have heard good news! :)</p>
<p>JJoboe, how did the acceptance from Peabody come? Peabody is the last school we are waiting for.</p>
<p>Anyone have any experience with negotiating with schools with no/low scholarship using offers from other schools? I have heard of people doing this, but am wondering if you go to the dept. head or deal with admissions? Daughter did not receive scholarship to Boston Conservatory which was her favorite school.</p>
<p>I’m not quite sure about Peabody, either–it’s also the last school I’m waiting for. When I checked my JHU account yesterday, under the “Peabody” tag it showed me the accepted students page, but I’m not really sure as to whether that means an acceptance or not…</p>
<p>BassDad-- for Eastman and Oberlin I was also accepted into their respective double degree programs for a BA in economics.

<p>BelCantoMom, in the past I had mixed success by contacting financial aid offices and asking their appeals policy. I also contacted admissions and my daughter contacted the teacher to let the teacher know what the situation is. In some cases, the teacher or department may be willing to advocate. Success varied from school to school. It helps if you have a higher offer on paper from a school that is considered to be comparably or more selective. I do not have any experience with Boston Conservatory, but that is how I would proceed in your situation.</p>

Has everybody’s formatting changed on the Music Major forum, or is it just mine? When I look at any of the other CC forums that I frequent, the formatting is the same as it has always been – convenient and easy to read. Beginning yesterday afternoon/evening, when I look at the music major forum, the formatting has changed. Everything is bigger and I must now scroll left to right, as well as up and down, to view the entire page. Anybody else with this problem? And does anybody know what to do about it?</p>

<p>^They’re working on it. Threads with a number of pages are expanding out to show every single number in sequence, which means some (eg. with 1000) pages are so wide you can’t read them.</p>

<p>On my ISIS account on the Peabody tab it says “Congratulations on your acceptance to Peabody!”, and that particular tab’s financial aid summary said “No disbursement or aid shown,” but my JHU financial aid offer was shown, denoting acceptance to the double degree program. I know they were having technical difficulties yesterday and that not all decisions were released. Hope this helps!</p>

If you applied for the double degree, you should’ve been sent an email explaining that both the JHU Homewood and Peabody decisions would appear individually on ISIS, with your financial aid data indicating your status as a double degree entrant. It sounds to me like you definitely got in to Peabody. Congratulations!</p>

Son (primary instrument piano) accepted to Berklee, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Long Beach (Composition), Cal State Dominguez Hills (Digital Media Arts), Cal Poly Pomona (Music Industry), UC Irvine, and UCLA (Ethno/Music Industry Minor). Top three are: CSUF, CSULB, and UCLA. Any insight would be appreciated.<br>

<p>S spoke to the prof at Frost. It is free tuition for four years. It doesn’t seem real and not sure I’ll believe it until I see it in writing. I guess he’s better than I thought…LOL!!!</p>
