Master List of Music School Acceptances, Fall 2013

AliT0173, from what I see on their website, Northeastern State University does not have the word Oklahoma anywhere in their name. That is part of the reason I was initially confused as to which school you really meant. Thanks for the update.

You’re right. Northeastern State University. Sorry for the confusion.

I posted it on the final decision thread but for those who I’ve been communicating with on this thread…we paid the deposit for Frost today. Thanks to everyone for joining us on this ride. It has been great watching everyone’s story unfold and although our journey is over I will still be watching to see everyone’s final choices. And once more a big thank you to Bassdad for his continued hard work. This would have been much harder without the CC family
S3 is next but he is telling me he will only be a music minor. Less stressful I hope!

cellocompmom, I got your message - thanks! I know I’ll definitely have questions for you!

Son has been accepted to BM programs at Berklee (jazz saxophone), McGill (bassoon), NEC (bassoon), and Hartt (both bassoon and jazz saxophone), all with nice scholarship offers. An exciting set of possibilities!

Congratulations musicmom3000 and son.

S got into the following for a BM in violin performance.

Peabody-- partial scholarship
Mary Pappert-- full tuition scholarship
Baldwin Wallace-- full tuition scholarship

Congratulations to violinson and son (violingrandson?).

Congratulations also to Obstructions who, on the decisions thread, notes acceptances to the University of Kansas and Augustana College for french horn, exact majors and degrees as yet unspecified.

Accepted to Jacob SoM and Florida State

Waitlisted by Eastman

Congratulations to Westwood94.

Congratulations to Bigvoice91 who, on another thread, reports acceptances for an MM degree in vocal performance from Manhattan School of Music and Indiana University.

Moot congratulations to Muzikgirl who, on still another thread, reports an acceptance to the Commercial Music program at Berklee for voice. Unfortunately she will not be able to attend and is planning a gap year.

My son officially accepted CIM today for cello with a $10,000 scholarship
For your statistics, he was offered $15,000 from BU

Congratulations Cellocompmom2 and son.

D accepted to Oberlin, CMU, Peabody, Ithaca and Eastman for double bass performance. Decided today to attend Oberlin

Congratulations debtaps and daughter. As you are probably aware, my daughter got her BM in double bass performance from Oberlin. If you have any questions, feel free to email me or PM me once you hit 15 posts.

Bass dad , congrats to your daughter as well, NEC is great!

Congratulations to MakeMom and daughter, on daughters acceptance for an MM in cello performance at Boston University and San Francisco Conservatory of Music, as noted on another thread.

Been reading this thread for sometime BassDad and appreciate all of the information from you and all who have posted.

My S is a Jazz Upright Bassist and has been accepted to the following Jazz Programs with scholarships per year listed.

Eastman 20000, Berklee 14000, SUNY Purchase 2000, William Paterson 2000, The New School for Jazz - no scholarship.

Plan to visit a couple of the schools again to help with decision. The programs can be so varied, in addition to their locations. Eastman has 1 bass teacher, Berklee has a bass dept. The New School is a BFA degree and requires 2 piano prof courses (from their website as I understood it) and Eastman requires 6, with the other schools listed above somewhere in the middle for piano proficiency. Read other posts about importance of making contacts in the industry - don’t know how they do that at Eastman compared to other the other four schools that are closer to NYC. The other schools list professional musicians that teach at their schools full-time or masterclasses.

Any advice from anyone who has kids in the jazz programs at these schools would be most appreciated.

Congratulations to all. I am especially happy to see the String Bass so well represented in this year’s acceptances!

Congratulations JBassGo and son.
