<p>Congratulations and best wishes to all who are nearing the end of this challenging process. Bassdad, thank you for all your thoughtful advice in these past months. You've been so helpful, both in direct and general communications, and we have frequently followed your suggestions. My D has been accepted at Oberlin (double degree) and Carnegie Mellon, the only schools for which she auditioned. (She is a double bassist.) Now she must make her final choice. We feel she can't go wrong at either place.</p>

<p>Hello, I have been lurking around this forum for a few days and appreciate all the information and support available. My son was initially rejected at Julliard in Viola performance after a good audition, but since the teachers he selected he didn't know personally but just knew the names - I wasn't that surprised, however dissapointed. He was accepted at Mahattan School of Music fortunately. A big difference there was that he had lessons with his first and second teacher selections, both whom were at the audition. The familiar faces really put him at ease - and he played even better than at Julliard - anyway - we were thrilled that he got accepted and got his first teacher choice. What a relief!!!!!!!</p>

<p>Voice student, in case you didn't see this update, I found this on the site today:
All undergraduate decisions will be completed by April 9, with most first round offers made by the evening of Friday, April 5. Undergraduate waitlist decisions will be made at that time, and it is hoped that undergrad waitlists will be ordered by Monday, April 9. Admissions packages, including decisions on Financial Aid are currently being processed within 36 hours of the decision to admit. </p>

<p>Mommybird, thank you for that info. I am a soprano. I live in Boston and NEC and BU are not my top choices (too close to home) and I have a hard time with the location of Oberlin (cornfields) but I did have a good time last summer at their vocal academy. I think I am hoping for Eastman, but I really don't know.</p>

<p>Did you have a teacher in mind for Eastman? I hear they will confirm your teacher before you have to commit to enrolling. DS is waiting to hear also. Also wondering about BU. Do you know any teachers? Did they give you good grants? DS also was admitted.</p>

<p>It used to be the case that Eastman called their admittees, before the mailed package arrives. I do not know if they still do, but they seemed to pride themselves on that being part of their process, indicating how much they valued the accepted musicians.</p>

<p>I know of one instance where they called to tell a musician she had been admitted, she was not there and the man calling told the roommate, who had also applied but previously received a rejection letter....bummer!</p>

<p>Update: Guitargirl's D accepted to Northwestern, USC/Thornton School of Music, John Hopkins/Peabody Conservatory, Wesleyan. </p>

<p>Her top choices are now the double degree programs at Hopkins/Peabody, Oberlin/Oberlin Conservatory and Northwestern. Any perspective on Oberlin vs. Peabody Conservatory would be greatly appreciated. She knows Northwestern well since she's been at NHSMI the last three summers.</p>
