Master List of Skills to learn for College

Hey guys! Someone suggested in one of the previous threads that it would be great to have a master list of all the skills we would need to survive college years. So here are a few that i've compiled from the other threads. Keep posting your own !

Laundry - Learn how to operate the washing machine and how to seperate your clothes colorwise. Read the tags and wash accordingly.

Ironing - This is probably a good thing to learn as well. But wrinkle reducers work well enough

Driving - Its not a necessity, for its great if you do know how to drive. Internationals are suggested to bring their International Drivers Permit.

Cooking - One of the basic skills you will need cause you will soon get tired of your meal plans. Learn recipes which are fast and easy to make with minimum ingredients.

Money Management - Most of us will be having limited funds and overspending in the first semester is very likely. Keep track of budget.

Learn how to use a credit card responsibly.

Know how to get to and through an airport.

This is all i can come up with right now... if you have some more ideas and thoughts that maybe helpful for college - this is the place to post it!

Time managemnt - Perhaps THE most important thing to learn.

how to do dishes by hand...you may not always have a dishwasher handy, and it would be pointless to use the dishwasher for 2 plates

You missed some that were mentioned in the other thread.

By the way I'm curious, how is this thread different than the other thread. The reason I ask is because even as you make this master list you aren't really making anything shorter (comments are still being written next to the skill) and if you are then you might be taking away from whatever helpful comments/suggestions others might have left. Like in the other thread someone wrote out good ways to do laundry, something a list would not include. I don't have a problem with this thread as it will still have skills posted that are neccesary in college but having two threads for the same thing will have me going back and forth.

Learn how to decide when you need a haircut. I'm pretty religious about it, but others at college seem to get one about four times a year, and they look like real slobs if they have long shaggy hair.

and then we have the stupid suggestions, as well..

Um, haircuts are not a stupid idea. If you're going for any kind of interview or presentation you might as well look decent. Same thing goes for a date.

Some girls like long hair on guys.

Some guys like long hair on girls, therefore "Same thing goes for a date" is nullified.

You cannot "learn how" to get a haircut. You can, however, "learn how" to CUT hair.

You can look "decent" with longer hair. In other words, you aren't required to have short hair to ace "any kind of interview or presentation." Anybody who thinks you need a buzzcut to get an A for an oral presentation or to get a job is an idiot.

You don't need to wait to get in college to start getting haircuts. If you're normal, like most people, you pretty much know when you need a haircut when you're about six or seven years old.

Hence, stupid suggestion.
5. You

Do your Math HW

Prioritize your work-load.

"3. You cannot "learn how" to get a haircut. You can, however, "learn how" to CUT hair."

when he said

"Learn how to decide WHEN you need a haircut."

so that argument goes out the window

good call.

Hey Balmes Pavlov!
Skill # 13 - Learn how to make the best of both threads :p
hehe

haha it's not convenient so forget skill #13.

Learn how to juggle

wait a second, this is just ridiculous. what kind of task would require you to juggle in college? and i'm taking this in it's literal sense. clowns know how to juggle pins and balls. college students though?

Were you dropped on your head as a child? I don't know where you're from, but here on earth we call that a "joke".

it's the internet. if someone was serious enough about learn when to get a haircut, what do you expect me to make of someone who says learn how to juggle.

lol guys, calm down, but still knowing how to juggle is pretty impressive :)

You can juggle around campus asking for change like musicians :p
