Is it possible to do extremely well in AP Physics C Mechanics if you have no physics background and have not taken honors physics.
What if you have previously taken Calculus?

Yes it is, I got a 5 with no background and only Calculus.

How is that possible? I took Physics/AP Physics and Calc AB and pretty sure didn’t get a passing score.

Depends on the person, you will probably need to study a little harder and take more time to understand the concepts, but it can be done

People have told me (+ search old posts on CC) that Physics C is still considered an introduction class, so I think your teacher will teach you the basic concepts…all you need to know is some calculus. Unfortunently, my school doesn’t know that, so everyone was forced to take Physics B junior year…even though for a person going into science/math in colleges, its Physics C thats actually matters.

I took Physics C (both Mech and E/M) at the same time as Calculus BC and did fine. I got 5’s on all 3 tests, and did well in the classes. The calculus needed for Physics C isn’t really that hard at all. Just know how to take basic integrals and derivatives and you’ll pretty much be completely set. It might be harder in the beginning of the year, because you’ll be expected to know calculus that you might not have learned in BC yet, but by the time of the AP, you’ll be set! Also, Physics C was my first physics class.
