I recieved my undergraduate degree in life sciences, have been working in structural engineering. Knowing that I want to transition into engineering, I went back and took math/physics/engineering pre-reqs at a local community college.
I know that most civil masters engineering programs require a B.S. in engineering or in physical sciences, does anyone have any experience with gw graduate engineering admissions without an undergrad engineering degree?
I’m a structural engineer. I can’t imagine a school not requiring a BS in engineering. There is SO much to learn in structures - analysis, concrete design, steel design, timber design, seismic design, foundations, etc.
What do you mean that you have been working in structural engineering?
Mentorship at my family’s engineering firm - learned calculations, have been doing residential and small commercial structural design for several years.
You would have to check with each individual school. I know at UT-Austin, you would have to have a civil engineering BS in order to enter grad school in structures (I asked my dad, because he’s a professor there).
