Masters Degree and PhD in Economics after Bachelor Degree in Industrial Engineering

Right now I am studying Industrial Engineering . And I am pretty successful . But I decided to be a faculty member of an Economics Department in the future. With a high GPA , is it possible for me to have a Masters Degree and PhD in Economics in a prestigious American University?

Note: I am studying at a University in Europe which offers its courses in English.

‘All of a sudden’ you decided to be a faculty member? What made you come to that conclusion? Have you done any research?

Actually my goal was to be a faculty member of an Indıstrial Engineering Department. So , my career plans did not change. I only want to change my branch. Because the Econ courses during the Industrial Engineering curriculum were very interesting. Actually IE and Econ are not very very different from each other . Because of my mathematical and verbal skills , I am sure that I will be successful if I study Econ. But there can be some problems during the admission to the Econ Mater Program. And that is what makes me worry.
